Once you can run for 30 minutes, then you can start worrying about time. Until then, just move those fat legs of yours.

Learn to count, untill you do have a HRM.

Count your beats for 10 seconds, multiply by 6.

The whole "count your heart rate thing" will be difficult to do when running, distance is simpler. Im going with mschatz here.
