A lot of moves that we do are derived from karata, judo, jj, etc...so it's easy to see how joint locks, strikes, etc are used in LE profession.
Today was a stress day. We first had a vehicle inspection, then locker inspection, the 50 push ups at lunch done at such a slow tempo that we probably could have done 150.....we did close to 200 for the day
DT:
-75 push ups(200 for the day)
-50 mountain climbers(150 more as punishment in full gear)
-25 burpees
-50 jumping jacks
-practiced more baton blocks, strikes, more retention moves...
-we lost 3 more people in range retesting...i was kinda cool with 1 of them...damn shame....i think all 3 were offered to recycle but 2 of them chose to....next class was eliminated due to budget problems so next class is likely to be end of the year or next year....those people still have to go through mini background and some other stuff....as well as all the the stuff we did thus far like pepper spray...etc.......so we're all ready to leave and the staff is telling us about thisand one of our leadership people decided to make an idiotic joke so we had to do 150 mountain climbers in full gear, all off-campus privileges are now suspended , and we got more shit tomorrow....fucking great....cant believe that jackoff made it into a position of leadership in our class......gotta love selection by height or whatever they used first two days when i wasnt there...500 word memo tomorrow for disorganized lockers...meh

is that DT done once during the day or a few times spread throughout?
and full gear = ~15lbs?

We usually do 50 push ups morning in full gear and baton then 50 more at lunch, and we have DT for 2 hours daily most weeks. On top we may have additional push ups for stupid shit like dropping equipment or as punishment for other shit...
full gear=vest, boots/shoes, pants/shirt, utility belt, flashlight, tagbook, baton....dont know how much it weighs but 15 lb aint too far....this is still light because we dont carry a real gun with 3 full mags...that will add quite a few additional pounds. Full utility belt is like 30 extra lb on its own.

-100 mountain climbers in place of push ups in full gear to start the day as well as another inspection
-25 burpees+50 burpees(technically squat thrusts since there are no jumps) for DT
-they tried to make today stress day but it was alright...
-we have had trauma/cpr/etc training for last week and we have an EMT director teaching us who like all the gruesome stuff so we got to see a bunch of videos and pictures of badly injured, punctured, decapitated, crushed, impaled, burned, etc bodies......then practiced first aid in trauma first aid...

Also of note me and a few classmates were practicing baton retention using crescent roll , thumb parry, and pendulum roll....well in most of them you have to get the baton to a vertical position after a few distracting rowing, swinging, or pendulum type moves....well people today couldnt make those moves effective vs me because i could keep the baton horizontal....my guess that they needed to transition to something else as not all moves are effective on all people....I have considerably above average hand strength so I could probably give even some big guys a run for their money in breaking that technique...tho it could just be poor technique on their part...then again i also know what's coming and how to counter it using my strengths........this is two hand grab vs two hand hold for the officer in en-guard position...

-had sim3 today...considered hardest out of 5 that we have....robbery, burglary, felony stops....pretty cool overall and I felt relaxed unlike the first 2 sims....however I had to retest last scenario after crashing and burning in a memorable fashion....but i redid it and passed with a good score...overall i did good in this sim....we lost 1 person today early in the day ....sucks...i was cool with that person and feel horrible for him....was pretty bummed to hear some others talking shit about him....i stepped in and backed him up then got called a 'liberal'......my take was you dont step all over someone who's down(esp some who just lost a job/career/etc)....it's not their place to say who belongs and who doesnt...oh well...my other buddy had a few difficulties but passed everything too.....
-might go to hooters and get drunk with a few classmates later....unless i fall asleep....been up since 5 and tired as shit...

Yeah, not to take anything away from your grip strength, which I'm sure is excellent, but knowing the exact technique that's coming can make all the difference.
