Almost anyone who squats fairly narrow with the knees coming forward will find the oly shoes more mechanically advantageous and comfortable. The wider you get, the less so.

-Monday was all lecture
-Today was a skidding practice and test....had to correct for front and rear skids...pretty fun...I did a few near 360s along the way...
-Practiced PMC course as well as accident avoidance course........fun courses except I was having a few difficulties...tomorrow is the test for both. I am somewhat wide so I have trouble turning all the way around on the reverse driving...also no mirrors means I have to change my habits....AAC is driving down straight at 35+mph then at the last second changing into either left or right lane.....was tough getting used to it and had to fight temptation to break....we pissed off the Lt. who was teaching the course ...I got a good deal of crap because I had the misfortune of going first...haha.....

-Had 3 tests today....1 written and 2 driving....

written wasnt great but no idea how I did....

I failed the PMC driving course where I had to go around a course maneuvering through tight cone passages, going in reverse for a good portion of the course...the course has to be done in 195 seconds and most people got under that time with a couple people doing it in 150s....my best tested run was a little over 360 with penalties and best with 308 sec....so...i am in huge trouble....out of the 3 other people aside from me who failed to pass the course in required time from 3 tries....my time was probably the worst...although I dont know the time of one of those people..........my problem is that I am used to mirrors and driving a midsized sedan vs a full and relying on turning sideways with head 180.......I am not that flexible so....like I said huge problems...I went out and bought cones so will try to practice this weekend...I got official practice on tuesday after regular academy classes and then retest following saturday....I noticed that almost everyone who did well drives/drove a big truck/suv in the past....

-AAC course where we had to accelerate to over 35 then at last second make lane change left or right depending on the light went fine...I had to do 4 in a row or 5/6 on 10 runs so I got it in 5 runs.....

-talked to instructor who said with practice I may very well pass the course but said that with enough practice almost anyone can do it....however on the streets where we're multitasking between a million things it's going to be much harder....tho my thought process is that we're acquiring so much new information/skills that multitasking right now is quite difficult....if I had to take calculus in elementary school I would think it's impossible but by HS/college it was fine...so I am hoping baby steps will get me where I need to be...I know I fucking want this job so I'll do what is necessary and then some...

5. stance was probably a smidge too narrow....check my 475 vid...pretty close..
6. probably should have had bar lower and narrower grip on the bar

I love weighted push ups...much easier on shoulders and much easier to recover from...wish I could find an alternate to stacking plates...I pretty much maxed out as they start sliding....
some suggestions
1) weight vest
2) back pack
3) from an elevated postition (hands and feet) secure weights to dip belt and place across traps/shoulders, drape chains over shoulders to prevent belt from sliding.
4) have a training pattern steady the plates
5) try hex dumbbells

*just checked out your latest videos

whats the heaviest walkouts you did in preparation for your 500 squat?

try some weighted planks
also use a loading pin to secure the weight

The only realistic way to balance 6+ plates I found was with another person...and after 6-7 it gets very difficult..thanks for the ideas...

Last time before 500 I did a walkout with 545...prior to 475 walkout I did 585...but it's very hard on the ligaments/tendons....

Hang in there Devil - I'm sure you'll pass all the driving tests with no problem. Do some windmills, neck rotations, and bridging to help limber up!
