Rugby practice....I hurt.

Played a game of touch before the rest got there. Did some stretching, then simple passing and kicking drills. Then we were broken into 4 groups.

Group one, defense line. Basically just getting used to making a nice line of defense when being pushed back towards your tryline.

Group two, mauling practice. 4 guys run up, ball carrier smashes in, the other three bind and push. The middle guy takes the ball, move onto next pad.

Group three, Tackling practice. Chip ball in, catch, try to score, other guy tries to stop you. Out of the 8 times I was defense, I only missed one guy. Well, I didn't miss him, but he wriggled free and kept running.

Group four, Drop goal kicking. I fucking suck at this, so it was nice to get some practice in.

Then we did a circuit. Start, 3 guys do 2 pushups, one joins on the right, guy on the left leaves to next station, etc. Stage 2, situps, again, start with two, move on. Stage 3, tuck jumps, yada yada. Once you hit the pushups again, do 4, then 8, then 16. We got up to 32 before most started dropping like flies. I was okay.

I now have two huge blisters and my legs are killing me from charlie horses. I love this sport.

Going backwards in defense is for girls, learn to run a blitz defence, have your entire line moving forward, prevent the ball carrier getting momentum coming off the pass and shutting down running angles. that's how real men defend.

I agree, but I wasn't exactly in charge of the drill.
