Back in the Garage (Lifting)
Making a new log because the other one is somewhere on the last page and I want to start fresh.
I haven't lifted since October. For the past 5 months I have been doing both wrestling (for school) and bjj (because I like it). Between 2-3hr wrestling practices everyday and 1hr bjj classes 3x a week, I didn't have the time or the energy to lift.
In hindsight, I probably could have lifted if I grew a pair and just did it, but I can't change that now.
So here is what has changed
Then
Age: 17
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 205
Body Fat: 30% (for the record I do not trust this measurement since it was taken using only 3 pinches instead of the more accurate 7)
Now
Age: 17
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 195
Body Fat: 20-25% (used all 7 points, not giving an exact because there is a margin for error)
Personal Records (set at a bodyweight of 205)
Squat: 315
Bench: 240
Deadlift: 410
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lGO0HNRJB0 - I don't have a video with updated bench
Even though my lifts will most certainly have gone down I feel I am in much better shape than before. Not only am I down in weight and body fat, but my cardio is 10x what it was 5 months ago.
NOTE: I am not changing my sig until I can press 275.

Thanks. I can't wait to get back in the gym and lift, I feel naked without a bar on my back.

My log ends up on the last page within like an hour of me updating it.
A lot of people assume I'm good at fighting because I'm way stronger than them. But it would be nice to actually know how.

it is weird watching the video of my maxes, I thought I was a lot skinnier-looking than I was.
of course I will probably be saying that when I get down a bit more.

true, but there was just something about my old log that wasn't kosher

Today was more of a test than anything. I wanted to see where my strength was.
Squat
135x5
185x3
225x5
225x5
225x5
A bit disappointed with my squat. 225 didn't go up too easy. There wasn't a point where I felt as if I was going to fail, but I just wasn't feeling it. I might just need to get used to the mental rape that is squatting, again.
Bench
45x5
85x3
135x5
160x5
160x5
160x5
Very easy. Could have added at least 15 more pounds to the bar. I took it light since my bench has always been relatively low, but I was surprised to find that my push strength hasn't waned too much. Probably do to all the pushups, handstand pushups, handstand walks, etc that I did during the wrestling season.
Deadlift
135x5
225x3
315x1
275x5
My intention was to do 315x5, but after the first rep I knew it wasn't happening. So I dropped it down to 275.
Dips
Bodyweight 3x5
Easy
Overall I am not too disappointed. My squat and deadlift went down a bit more than I thought they would, but given the amount of time I took off I am lucky it is not worse than it is.

thanks, but my quads don't agree. Luckily, I usually only get DOMS the first two or three workouts after a break.

Squat
45x5
135x3
185x1
230x5
230x5
230x5
The body is really amazing. My legs have been aching all day. Walking up and down stairs was killing me and up until the second I got under the bar my quads were screaming. Once that bar was on my back it all went away and I was squatting deeper than I ever have.
Then the DOMS came back after the last set and I had to ease myself into sitting down (go figure).
Overhead Press
45x5
65x3
95x1
115x5
115x5
115x5
Not too bad. Before my time off I was struggling with a plate, so I can't really complain about anything.
Power Clean
135x5
135x5
135x5
Was never really strong on power cleans, so I figured I would start them up nice and light.
Bent-Over Rows
135x6
135x6
135x6
135x6
I went light and slow on these. I was striving for perfect form. I know Carnal recommends sloppy and heavy, but I always end up finding myself going too heavy and getting too sloppy.
I switched grips every set (1 pronate, 1 suppinated, 1 mixed with dominant pronate, 1 mixed with dominant suppinated).
Overall pretty good workout. I didn't even think squats were going to happen, let alone increase the weight. OHP pretty much stayed the same. I did power cleans and bor's light, but hopefully it will pay off form-wise.
