Our neighborhood really is called Charleston Heights, too. So it's appropriately ghetto.

You just got shoe-shined, motherfucker.

I remember all the bullshit 'attack's we used to make up in that game on the playground.

Do You Remember McCallum, Jackson, Nunn, Graham, or Benn?

At a 1995 press conference, Nigel Benn said "Roy Jones can beat the crap out of my head all he likes, but I'm not letting Mike McCallum snatch my body!". Roy Jones Jr. might have said it best saying "Ray Leonard had a lot of glamour, but he didn't have the skills of Mike McCallum.”

Pretty awesome that you are training with this guy.

Tuesday - 7/15/08.

7am - Began the morning with the fights of my two buddies Martin and Michael.

First as Michael's fight. My guess is he's pretty tough in the beard, because he stalks and counter-punches mostly, or swarms if he has to wait too long. Only problem I can see is he does it with his chin up sometimes, but he's got very good reflexes and changes elevation a lot, clinches smart, too.:

Michael/Some mufucka.

Then it was onto our very own Mr. Schatz's skirmish. Martin can box well, and seems to have good physical strength, better than average hand-speed, and good energy (doesn't suck wind from what I can see). I LIKE the angled jabbing, but Mike always says to step in with the jabs, especially the body-jabs, don't just hang at range. Then there's the issue of waiting, but not just waiting TO punch, waiting for the other guy to finish. With his physical strength I'd like to see a bit more punching in between the other guy's punches. Every time he did do that the guy backed off. And finish combos with the jab, as opposed to pulling back a little tall. Even if the guy is firing back having waited for the combination to finish, the stiff jab will throw his timing off.

Martin/Some nucka.

7:30am - 2 mile run.

10:30am - Gym Time.

5 minute stretch.

1 round ring-jacks, we can do these and hold conversations now.

2 rounds Shadowboxing.

3 rounds body-snatcher. Mike said I was looking good, punches were crisp.

1 round heavybag focusing on body-combinations.

2 rounds double-end bag, keeping the hands moving.

15 minutes mitt-work. Been a while since we did these. My hand-speed is still there and so is the ability to run off 5-6 punch combinations. I just really need to follow with the jab better, I'm slow to jab after running off 6 punches.

2 rounds speed-bag.

Conditioning:

Ab-machine circuit x 2.

40 twist-ups (I normally twist 4 times, today I did 8).

10 Hindu push-ups.

I've adjusted some of my dieting and supplementation lately. My diet is minimal to cut down to near Fighting weight, closer than the 10-15lbs I usually allow myself. I've stopped using almost all stimulants because I was beginning to burnout on them. Now I mostly take joint care items and basic health things like CoQ10, Lutein for my eyes, and the fish oils.

Gym Moments:

Jesse was cool today.

Richie of all people was full of praise.

Dyah Davis gave me the best compliment a Fighter can get. "Looks like you're slimming down."

since your losing weight are you determining your weight class or is it definitely 147?

Is this your decision or is a team decision between you and Mike?

I initially thought I'd be at 154, but now I just don't see a reason I can't make 147, and Mike agrees. It's good for my height/reach, my size at that weight would rival Cintron and Margarito.

Looks like he's trying to be sure that he's below my weight class so that he won't have to worry about fighting me...

Barut only has to go down about a thousand weight classes to fight King.
