Wednesday - 7/23/08.

6:45am - Began the morning with one of the Messico/Potta Recko tussles that ended with a Puerto Rican victory. Wilfredo Gomez (who actually beat two excellent Mexican Fighters) out-punches Zarate. No real analysis needed for this bout:

Gomez/Zarate.

7:15am - 1.65 mile run.

10:30am - Gym Time.

No I didn't get to get mauled by Sharif. Firstly, he didn't show up on time, secondly, Mike hasn't been keen on Boxing this week because Eddie's been bringing his whole squad in early and occupying the better ring most of the days, and everyone else uses the other ring for basic work. Today, the whole Cotto/Margarito undercard was present.

10 minute stretch.

3 rounds Shadowboxing.

4 rounds Heavybag.

12 minutes mitt-work.

2 rounds double-end bag.

3 rounds speed-bag.

Conditioning:

8 minutes on the stairmaster.

Push-up circuit.

30 dips.

10 hindu push-ups.

Gym Moments:

Here's where it gets crazy. The day wasn't bad per se, but it had an ominous air. The Gym itself was abuzz and everything seemed cool despite someone stealing Mike's salad. Yes, someone ganked Mike's lunch and to this day it's the talk of the Gym.

Then just as I'm getting cleaned up to leave Mitch alerts everyone that cars parked in the lot of the empty building across the street were being towed away by a fleet of tow trucks. The whole Gym emptied and those two drivers almost got hurt, they were hooking up 3 cars as we got out and Jesse Reid Jr. was ready to deck a fat driver for saying it'd cost $105 to put a truck down of a Fighter who still had his sparring gear on. Jesse said "Man you got two choices, you can put the fuckin' truck down...or you can put the fuckin' truck down." Sharif had to do something similar to get them to remove the boots off the car he was driving (he was there by then).

But the first two cars gone, mine and Duncan's.

So I had to take Thursday off of training to go get my car that morning. Cost me a pretty penny, too. The good news was there's some rather interesting business developments going on, I don't want to spoil the news just yet, but things are about to get VERY interesting.

LOL. Jesse JR's one bad dude. He had everybody back at the gym in Costa Mesa a bit intimidated of him.

Bummer about the car dude.

Friday - 7/25/08.

6:50am - Began the morning with the first bout of Morales/Pacquiao. I wanted to see Erik in his prime again, and his last GREAT hurrah before becoming fat and happy. Erik really was something else in this fight, every time I see it I realize more and more that he embarrassed Pac.

7:40am - 1.8 mile run.

10:30am - Gym Time.

10 minute stretch.

1 round ring-jacks.

3 rounds Shadowboxing total (did 1 before the ring-jacks, thought I was waiting for the ring timer to toll and it wasn't even on yet).

3 rounds body-snatcher. Mike had me work a new style variance today. It's funny because right when I have slightly different ideas for myself sometimes I want to tell him, but so far whenever I HAVEN'T told him it's like he eventually reads my mind. Everything he had me do today seemed to extend my range, and I been wanting to key up on using my wingspan.

The telling combo was 1-pull back-1-2-feint-3-2-feint-3-2-1.

The hooks are long hooks, and are designed to cut you if I land them.

4 rounds Heavybag, working this same combinations, body-shots when close, and spent the last round on my toes.

2 rounds double-end bag, working that same combination but now for speed.

3 rounds speed-bag.

That was it for today. Not because I felt bad, but because next week begins a new Chapter. This weekend we're going to do our last bit of significant partying.

I won't be able to do an entry for tomorrow because we'll be gone in the morning, and then we'll be drunk probably clear until Sunday afternoon. What's the occasion you ask?

Well:

HA!

Yeah he's real good people. Out of everyone who ties my gloves in the morning he does the best job, too.
