Return of the Fat Personal Trainer
The Pariah is back! I've changed my username slightly for paranoid delusional reasons.
I was doing well, had between 16-18 consistent clients and then the economy tanked...Between Sept and Dec of last year i lost about 12 clients, combined with my p-thead work ethic things got alittle rough.Of course i didn't save any money.A core group of 6 clients sustained me as i only spent $ on rent, basic utilities, food, and w--d. I still train people out of the Co-op gym as well as a few local gyms and am now back up to 9 clients.
This log will include my training of clients, my training, and lots of tangents probably.
I am sick this week. A client of mine, Baxter, got me a ticket to last Friday nights Yankee game which was awesome. But what a cold i got. And at $9 a beer, thank God i paid my verizon bill before i went to the game.
My first entry might seem alittle bizzarre with no actual training info in it but i just got back online this week and i just happen to be sick.
I'll keep a list at the top here of important stuff that comes up as i go and i'll continually update.
Pariah's Organic List of Personal Training Rules/Benefits of being a Trainer
1-Take off when sick
-noone wants your cold/flu
-yea it sucks not getting paid
-if your client thinks your good your absence will make your client grow MORE attached
2-Clients will give you tickets/breaks on things that they are in the business of selling etc;
-i was surprised at how many freebees i've been given...I never had a job with perks (haven't had a job for awhile to be honest) and it certainly is pretty cool. That ticket probably cost $400+ or so.
3-Charge alot of money and thats your price and you are sticking to it.
-when the economy tanked i lost alot of clients so i raised my price on the ones who i felt could pay...and they did! I wasn't sure if they would or not but i looked around at how many fucktards in the industry were charging $70/hr and these clients of mine that remained got dramatic results so i took a chance.
4-Don't take phone calls/texts on your cell phone while training someone.
-see post 15
5-When training pregnant women, don't kill the baby
-see post 17
6-Don't talk to clients when training them...don't let them talk to you... (unless its in regards to what we are doing of course)
-see post 17
7-Train with as low an overhead as possible
-see post 19
8-Being a hung-over motovational speaker
-see post 30
Anyway, nice to be back in S&P and i hope to contribute in a positive manner to the forum...I always maintained that S&Pers would make good personal trainers, as i noticed in my experience so far, unfortunately, the trainers that make the most money are the ones that understand/are dedicated more to the bizness more than the training.
