Tuesday January 8th
9-10am 20min run (prob. 1.5-2 miles)

6-7pm taught a private capoeira class. got some work in on my own kicks but honestly it was mainly teaching and observation.
7:30pm did some strong stretching.

Wednesday January 9th
6:30am
10 sets of 20 reps Deadlifts (explosive up, controlled down, calf raise at the top of deadlift, set 11-20 added shoulder shrug at the top of deadlift)
5min plank position
5min barbell carry (walk for 5min while holding barbell)
5min run
200 situps (with feet under barbell for support)

felt great today and did this routine much quicker than the last time when I used squats instead of deadlifts. Generally squats are more difficult for me then deadlifts so I be paying attention next time around when I go back to squats to see if I feel better at them or not. Was gonna do this workout on Monday but as stated on that day My legs were still sore from the last squat marathon. Today they felt slightly sore but once the first set was done I knew they were fully recovered. I will also be watching to see how quickly they recover/how long the soreness last after today to see if I my body is adapting better or not.

Here I would like to dedicate a post to talk about my diet just a little.

I can not say enough how important and for me how much it has help my well being and performance by eating "clean".
By eating clean I mean this: Eat as few "processed" foods as possible, this includes protein powders and supplements as well. I find I feel MUCH better the less I use whey protein and the more I rely on good whole foods and when I use powders I prefer to rely on mostl buckwheat, soy, egg white, spirulina, and cassein over the use of whey concentrates or mixtures of "everything and the kithchen sink". this is common sense to many people but Personaly I have learned the hard way that a little of good whole foods is better than a lot of protein powder mixtures. even when I am eating a lot of healthy whole foods if I add "too many" protein shakes I don't do my best.
Some people claim benifit from eating lots of chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, oatmeal, along with healthy intake of vegatables and the avoidance of or very little beef . But I feel horrible on this type of diet. I feel my best when I eat lots of beef(mainly steak but various cuts) and fish(salmon, tuna, and tilapia are my favs) , I use buckwheat(also called kasha) instead of oatmeal, I get my vegies mainly from romaine lettuce and brocoli, and the little bit of cilantro or parsely that my wife likes to season food with, If I need carbs in my meals it will either be with fruits or sweet potatoes. Olive oil is the only oil I use for cooking.
I avoid wheat, starches, rice, also most beans and corn, and most dairy products(however I love milk and with my current diet I have not problems drinking lots of it).
Supplement that I keep in my daily regimen are fiber pills and powders (any natural product but I try to take those that have a variety of fiber sources and will only use psyllium fibers sparingly), fish oil (preferably salmon), coconut oil, spirulina powder, multi mineral, vit C, carnitine, ALA, bladderwrack...
I do take other things occasionally but am only consistent daily with those listed above.
My water intake is mostly distilled water. I do drink fruit juices occasionally but I limit it to pineapple, passion fruit, pomegranite, and cherry and I always buy the small 1 litre size and then dilute it with water in a gallon jug.
There now my diet has been logged somewhat. fhewww! I hope that is it for this subject.

Wednesday jan 9th
part 2
12 noon
3min walk/jog warmup
15min stationary bike (started at resistance 5 and ended at level 20)
10min treadmill (max incline setting 15%, started with 3 speed and ended at 5)
10min elliptical (started at 10 resistance and ended at 15, at 5min mark reversed my stride to backwards till end)
3min walk cool down
3min cool down stretch

part 3
6pm
capoeira class
7pm
got some work in with my friend again
3 x 5min rounds
very stubborn guy I swear you'd have to hit this guy with a sledge hammer to get him to quit. That's the type of fighter I like to spar. His ground game is non existant so we elected to just go kickboxing. Overall it was good work. felt a little sluggish at first but then went to that other place at about half way thru the first where I didn't feel anything for the rest of the session. This allowed me to concentrate on pushing the pace. just like the last light sparring I had I really aimed to put in nonstop work, I wanna be a workhorse in the cage, just nonstop from bell to bell. I had the reach advantage: and the jab was his kryptonite-when I was snapping it out there properly he was working real hard just to try and get in range. He is a crazy guy so he likes to bum rush a lot. I kinda feel like I needed more work against a rusher anyway.

"tilapia are my favs"

You must not have watched that Dirty Jobs show on the Discovery Channel last night. Be careful where you get your fish, apparantly they use talapia to eat the crap out of the water that they raise other fish in.

I make sure i stay away form the farm raised salmon because you read about it all the time. But i never really though about talapia or other fish becuase i dont eat it often, only at Red Lobster.

They keep a huge tank with thousands of Talapia in it and when the water is too dirty to raise the other fish in they put it into the tank with the talapia and they eat all the crap out of it. Then when the talapia are nice and fat they take em out and sell em to wholesalers who inturn sell em to grocery stores and feed them to us.

Between this and all the damn cows and chickens living ontop of each other and sleeping in their own shit, no wonder im sick all the time.

Yeah it is definitely hard to get good food in grocery stores. I try to always get wild caught fish, but I read several articles that claim "wild" doesn't always mean wild, any damn way! It is very infuriating! I don't always buy food at the organic places like whole foods but as often as my budget allows I try to get groceries there.

Oh and Dirty Jobs is one of my favorite shows! missed that show but thanks for mentioning: this is the type of stuff that can make you wanna just stop eating!

Yeah it is ridiculous what they get away with. Ive seen the lable "Wild Farm Raised Salmon" or things similar to it.
Wtf does that mean? That they are untamed? Its stupid how they can get away with word play like that.

We got one natural foods store in the town i live but they dont carry meat or fish. If i didnt live in an apartment i would go to the butcher and buy a quarter of beef, i live in Northern California where the cattle acctualy do live on green grass and not in their own shit.

Hi Jacob, nice to read your log, I'm training for MMA too and my goals are very similar to yours, so it's nice to read how you are getting on.
I'm 6'1" and 180 lbs, but I'm coming up, not dropping weight.
I'm fighting my first MMA match in 3 weeks time, did I read correctly that you were fighting soon to? Good luck with whatever anyway
