Saturday December 22nd
8am
3 mile run
core work
situps, crunches, planks
4 sets of 10 walking lunges with 50lb dumbells
High rep squat and deadlift routine
1 set of 50 deadlifts
1 set of 100 squats

My Brother in law who trains at a very good BJJ School came by to help me with ground defense, reversals/sweeps and some strageties for ground fighting situations:
defense and escape for the following:
triangle, armbar, kimura, omoplata, anaconda, RNC etc.
sweeps and reversals from half gaurd, side, back control etc
a lot of good work I appreciate his help.

also this was the night of a GNC christmas diner. Liu and I both attended cause he used to work for the same store I am working at now. I don't know what it is but I notice when I train more often I have very little patience for other people in general and usually don't do well for social gatherings. And it's not that I'm tired and grouchy really because when I train more I am always in a better mood personaly and feel more satisfied with myself, It's just I have less tolerance for people who act stupid or talk bullshit, Which is why I was kinda annoyed at this particular get together. Still the food was great lost of steak, and good company on my end of the reserved table.

lol Your Brother-in-law, Mr. "I'm gonna replace all my running with rope-skipping."

Hey did you see your mug in my log? I posted the pics.

I also noticed you forgot about the mitt-work we did on that Wednesday, right after the 4 heavybag rounds. It's all good though, sometimes I like to try and forget the mitt-work Mike runs me through as well.

Yeah man I had this feeling I was forgetting something but could not place it, thanks for mentioning it i'll edit my post for that day.

and yes it is the same one, I have to admit though his BJJ knowledge is really good and the "classes" are free although he's rarely around to help I listen and try to learn what I can from his experience with BJJ. But I damn sure aint gonna go with that kind of conditioning advice, and hopefully I'll convince him to change his work ethics for that area of his training.

Sorry Liu, can't see the pics here at work they get blocked. but thanks.

It's all good.

Hey you need to find out the details about your fight. If it's in February, then definitely by now you should know all the specifics. Like are the Promoters paying for your License? If not it's going to either come out of your pocket, or the fight purse. Also how much the purse is, big difference between $25 and $250. For all we know you could be fighting for some chili fries and a grape soda. Also who the opponent is, because through January you should be training for whoever he is and whatever he does.

Let me know when you get the info.

well took a break from 23rd till the 25th. Was supposed to train with Liu one more time but it didn't work out.

Wednesday Dec 26th and Thurs 27th
20 min Elliptical machine (high resistance)
20 min stationary bike (high resistance)
evening work:
worked on getting my jab clean and snappy while keeping my gaurd up.
then worked on the cross, making sure it is as harpoon like as possible and putting the hip into it as well as to make sure my gaurd is not compromised while throwing.
this was a great review for myself, my reach really shows when I throw my punches correctly.

Friday Dec 28th
heavy bag work for power
rounds of each attack:
jab
cross
hooks
body kick
kick to head

Saturday Dec 29th - Tues Jan 1st
was off time.
Happy New Year Everyone!

January 2nd 2008
day of the mini workout marathon
Part 1: from 8am to 5pm
every 30minutes on the minute(ex. 8:30, 9:00, 9:30) perform 20 pushups, 20 squats, and 20 situps.
yeah I did this at work and "they" think I'm crazy!
Part 2 and 3 will be updated tomorro.
thanks all and have a great rest of the day.
actually a day late on the update but still better late then never:
Part 2: 5:25pm
1.5 mile run
Part 3: 10:00 pm
1x 3min round shadow boxing warmup
3x 5min rounds light MMA sparring (striking was all light, but grappling was done full strength and aiming to finish)
1st round mainly a kickboxing match hes not a BJJ guy so we just traded here. put the volume down alla advice from Liu.
2nd round I decided to try some wrasslin' and his sprawl was good, finally tripped him down and got to half gaurd. felt good here but tried to stay on the safe side imagining he was better at grappling so I didn't get too sloppy. gnp to pass to side. secured kimura about half way thru I guess. He tapped but we just restarted to finish the round standing.
3rd round more of the 1st's kickboxing match but he was more aggressive upset about the kimura I guess. still tried to put a lot of work in. I wanted to push myself to keep moving the whole 5 minutes with hands up and throwing strikes a lot. Felt good.
15min cool down with strechting
*this day went better then I expected. I know I definitely can't get by with just days like this, but when I have a day where I work 8-5 at the library and then 6-9:30 at gnc like I did this day, I found a nice way to get work in by the "mini marathon".

Great log man. Liu told me about you, said you're a hard worker and this log shows it. Ha ha i recognize some of the drills from your entry when you trained with him. Love that towel and rope drill!
