Wednesday December 19th
Called out from work today
so I could train with Liu at my gym.

10:30am did some light cardio and core work
no running again got to get this fixed

around noon Liu and I went to the gym to go thru his typical Boxing routine
Now mind you I have been reading his log and his room mates log and I must say he took it easy on me for sure! I have a great deal of respect for Liu (king) and if he had thought it necessary to put me thru the more difficult version of his typical training I would have done so without complaint and maybe thrown up my breakfast LOL but thankfully he felt after a night of hard sparring and another training session due for me in the evening that would warrant a lesser version of his regimen
here is Liu's log
A Sinister Tale of the Fisticuffs.
and here is his room mate Diego's log
The Top Rank Runt
those two are hardworkers for sure and I am grateful for all of Liu's help and for both of there dedication to their logs.

set round timer (3 min rounds 1 min break)
ring jacks for 1 round
shadow boxing 2 rounds
heavy bag 4 rounds
several rounds mit work (forgot this at first post, but was reminded that I gassed here pretty good. this is indeed a frantically paced workout that combines several training techiniques together which can really fry you not just physically, shoulders!, but also mentally hence I blocked this memory out forever LOL)
light sparring 4 rounds (Now I really got to see how footwork can make your opponent stupid cause that's what happened to me. sure I was game and wasn't scared LOL but that don't help you if you keep running into punches... I also got to see how many openings my gaurd/stance or lack thereof sometimes has.)
skip rope 2 rounds
*although a condensed version of a boxing training session I really can see the benifits of the flow and how if used correctly it can produce a machine that won't quit coming; even for my MMA pursuits this is great training and will help me become a volume attacker in MMA. And yeah I felt it too, those gloves got HEAVY, Liu keeps a frantic pace even when having to explain things as we go.

Wednesday December 19th Evening Training with Mestre Cleber
Maybe I should have told my Trainer more clearly that I had a very decent training session earlier today or maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned as I did, because he tried to fry me (it also didn't help that there was a black belt from american top team watching me train, and my trainer said he was totally pysched by how good I did the night before in sparring).

set timer 3 min rounds 1 min break
I must admit there is no way I can recall this session verbatum because of the quatity and the pace.
12 plus rounds of mainly mit work
all over the place power punching on one round, speed on another, volume(numbers/combos), combos with kicks and knees, defensive drills, countering drills
then rounds of shadow boxing with little hand weights
ending with kicks on the heavy bag for several rounds
felt GOOD!
don't know how I drove home but I made it

You guys need to support this man. He's the very definition of what an MMA ATHLETE should be, which is a Fighter first and an Athlete second. He ain't scared of a damn thing, and always gives training his all. If guys like him stick around and lay the foundations of the Sport, it'll do as well as it should. I'll comment on our training in my own log, which will also have photos.

Thanks a lot King.
now back to the LOG:
Friday December 21st
got off at noon today so Liu and I went to the gym at after that.
1:00pm
*note this session is difficult to recall I'll try to be as accurate as possible King will undoubtably have a more accuarate outline.
warm up
2-3 rounds shadow boxing (here some of my dirty habits were further confirmed: thinking too much about what i'm doing, tensing up etc.)
today Liu decided to show me some defensive drills
couple rounds catching drill with jabs and 1,2's
1-2 rounds stand in the middle of a rope circled on the floor while defending against an opponent whipping a towel at you to mimich punches from all angles. Your job is not to get hit or to block the attack without steping out of the cirlce. 20 pushups for me for stepping out once, if I would have had to do pushups for getting hit I would still owe pushups, but 20 was no biggie did them at the end of this drill. I like this could really improve my reaction timing.
next 1 round a piece for the "eddie futch" drill
one person defends while the other uses the mits to "point/touch" the trainees openings.
my round was nothing spectacular but I was very impressed with King's ability to shuck my attempts to hit the openings and the whole round got me to thinking that this part of boxing would work really well against MMA guys who like to grab and hold on looking for a greco or judo style take down. with a great knowledge of this type of boxing clinching you could fend off an opponents attempts to take you down and absolutely maul them with counter punching from the inside.
3-4 rounds mit work mainly to try and clean up my form a few combos here and there with change(return after a punch combo)
couple rounds light sparring (My trainer was watching this session and he specifically warned me not to follow King) I found out why... because he is a slick one and led me into some nice counters and got me going where he wanted. I had some good moments and even a few times pushed my thru to some body shots(not once did I endager his nose) but then he'd step on the gas a little and that would send me in a frantic just leading me more into his game.
ended with skip rope.
another good session with the King himself
