Also, just my own thing I guess, but I usually go about 5-10kg more on RDLs the Pulls. Just throwing that out there...

My knees are a bit bitchy since Smolov, I don't know the reason. Would you suggest increasing the RDL weight or lowering the pull weight? I could decrease the pull weight, because the pulls are not as fast as I feel they should be. I'm not yet comfortable with increasing the weight on RDLs, because I am not happy with my technique yet, when the weight gets heavier I use too much back and tend not to focus on the hamstring stretch.
Btw: No workouts since Wednesday due to work (out of town), will do todays workout tomorrow.

I just received Ironmind's Training Hall Footage of the Melbourne 1993 World Weightlifting Championships and the 1998 Bulgarian Training Footage - some pretty cool stuff, e.g. 175kg C&J at 60kg, 210kg Front Squat at 60kg, 270 or 280kg Back Squat for a triple at 91kg. However, the really impressive thing is how easy and fast these guys move the weights that I can still remotely comprehend. Obviously I have no idea what 270kg would feel like on my back, but I have deadlifted 180kg and to see some people essentially power snatch that kind of weight (and power clean over 200) is pretty awesome.
Edit: Some other stuff on the tape - 260kg Back Squat at 69kg, 245kg Front Squat at 77kg, 185kg Snatch at 84kg and 205kg C&J at 77. The amazing thing is that the Melbourne footage was shot within 2-5 days of the actual competition, so I do not think these guys are giving it their all (e.g. Naim Suleymanoglu 180kg Front Squat for a triple at 65kg 2 days before competition).

Nah, I wouldn't decrease the pull weight just to make the RDLs heavier (relatively). I forget you're new to this so stick with the lighter weights for now.
I would say, just based off my own experience, that you could clean/snatch pull 80-130% of your max full lift. More than 130% and you tend to sacrifice speed. Actually, I usually only go as high as 130% when doing pulls off the blocks. I leave the 80%ish weights for recovery weeks and tapering weeks. Speaking of 80%, if they're at all similar in their tapering protocol, think about that in relation to what you see on the training hall tapes. Yowza! I just can't conceive of the weights these guys lift. I can comprehend deadlifting cause you're just standing up with it and can grind it out for as long as it takes. With a clean you gotta pull it with speed and get your while body under it. Crazy.

Just watched the Melbourne preview. I'm surprised at how close together Pyrros keeps his feet on that power clean. Never noticed that before.
