Addiction Log (MT, Lifting)

I guess I really should start a log, as my memory really sucks on details. Probably will be good motivation for me, too.

Background:
I've always done some sort of sport growing up, such as crew or track. Did CQC while in the military way back. Finally started martial arts several years ago sporadically, beginning with Jeet Kune Do, and then did the occasional lifting. Sometime in October, I was looking to pick JKD back up again and instead ended up with Muay Thai. Then I got hooked. It was meant to be .

I'm doing the 50-day sample program from Infinite Intensity as well. I do what I can, and I'll sometimes substitute or change stuff (sometimes by accident, haha).

Stats:
Female
138 lbs -- 03.16.08

Most of my strength is in my core and lower body, so I've been focusing moreso on my upper body strength, in hopes of balancing it out as I continue to progress. Known PRs are few and sporadic since 1) I never bothered with keeping track of anything 'til now, and 2) I'm shiny and new to all of this. So I'll fill them out in due time, as I continue along. I'll also backlog as much as I can remember.

(in lbs)
squats: 175x2 -- 02.26.08
deadlift: 235x1 -- 01.21.08
bench press: 105x1 -- 03.19.08
zercher squats: 105x5 -- 01.30.08
SOHP: 65x1 -- 01.30.08
BORs: 115x5 -- 02.18.08

Current Wilks': 253.60 03.19.08

LMAO. Finn is allowed to do that, since I'm his girl.

Thanks for the welcome. The human body really is amazing with all that it can do.

Two weeks ago, my maxes were as follows (correct me if I'm wrong, Finn):

-Double dumbbell snatch: 20 x 1, 25 x 0
-Double dumbbell push press: 25 x 1, 30 x 0
-Single dumbbell bench press: ? (don't remember)

------

11.25.07: Hill Sprinting, Core Training

Kinda did the sprinting in a pyramid fashion; started with short distance and increased it at each interval. Shadowboxing and light jogging in between.

Core Training consisted of Sandbag getups, Deadlift twists, and V-ups, all with 20lbs. I'll probably will fill this out in detail later.

------
11.26.07 workout: Strength Training #2 (revisited)

Figured my maxes were different, so I checked before proceeding.

-dbl dumbbell snatch: 25 x 3, 30 x 2, 35 x 1, 40 x 0, 40 x 0
-dbl dumbbell ppress: 30 x 3, 35 x 2, 40 x 2, 45 x 0, 45 x 0
-sgl dumbbell bpress: 30 x 0, 20 x 0, 15 x 3

Went ahead with the workout, 30 sec rest per interval, 1 min rest between exercises

-dbl dumbbell snatch: 30 x 3, 30 x 3, 30 x 3, 30 x 3, 30 x 3
-dbl dumbbell ppress: 35 x 3, 35 x 3, 35 x 3, 35 x 3, 35 x 3

[that was at roughly 85-90%, instead of 60-70%, oops. Can't do math even though I have a minor in it]

-sgl dumbbell bpress, pushups (reps): 15 x 3, 8; 15 x 3, 8; 15 x 3, 6; 15 x 3, 4

My strength went down rather dramatically with the pair here. Most likely due to the aforementioned 85-90% as well as cutting my usual recovery times in half. I was rushing 'cause I started real late and the rec was about to close (shame on me, heh). I know I could've done better on the bench presses. Whatever pushups I couldn't finish I either held or switched to the plank for 30 more seconds.

Explosive power for plyo pushups are pretty weak, so I decided to focus more on standard pushups and mixing the plyos in every morning when I first wake up. When I remember of course .

Moving right along:

-wall squats (in sec), squat jumps (reps): 60, 15; 60, 15; 60, 15; 60, 15

No problems here.

Didn't get to do the Finisher (dumbbell swings) before they kicked me out. Not a problem though, I moved it to the end of yesterday's workout. I really should budget my time better so that I'm not rushing and get better quality workouts.

Sorry if this is difficult to read or follow. I'll post yesterday's workout soon.

Dumbbell swings are evil, IMO. I've talked with a number of people who have suffered disc injuries resulting from swings. If you're staying light, I guess they're OK, but personally, I think you can get all the benefits and thensome with one-arm/two-arm snatches.
