Hey, I'm alive. I'm fighting tomorrow, too, way out of a weight class I'm comfortable in, and certainly nowhere near what I'd consider acceptable fight shape, but I figure it'd serve as a yardstick to show me just how much I've lost in terms of reflex, skill and endurance, and will also be a good test for my hand, which I'd say is now lingering at about 80%.. At the very worst, it'll knock some ring rust off of me and light a fire under my ass.
I ran a 2-a-day today because my weight is a bit high. yea, my fat ass is jiggling around 170 so I'm 5 pounds off of ammy middleweight... which is 13 pounds above my optimal fight weight...

.
I'm following something roughly similar to the I.I. 50-day plan, with boxing training and heavy distance roadwork on top of it, and also a modified 5x5 plan to have me squatting 2x a week.

AM - Warrior Challenge
The Magic 50; 5 rounds with 60 seconds rest between rounds.
Felt good here, but I definitely needed the break between rounds. A far cry from my old time (and DB weight, for that matter), but it's a start.
PM - Roadwork + Floorwork
4.5km run + 150m hill sprint finisher
Decent pace, wouldn't call it LSD at the very least. No soreness, shin splints or cramping... felt strong during the final sprint. At least my legs aren't totally gone yet.
Finisher:
2-DB Complex
Deadlift x 6
SLDL x 6
Hang Clean x 6
SOHP x 6
Floorwork
50 sit-ups
25 push-ups
repeat 2x.
My objectives tomorrow are to work the body and impose my double jab. I want to really work my head movement and rely less on blocks and parries in this fight - it should affect the scoring positively, too, if I can pull it off, as a clearly slipped punch is not going to be scored, ever, while a subtle block might be. So, head movement, body work, stiff 1-1.
Rough game is would be to pump the jab hard for the whole fight and make him respect it. Work the body hard for the first two rounds. If he hasn't dropped and I'm gassing I'll coast in the third behind a jab he ought to respect by then and blitz him in the fourth for a late stoppage. Here's hoping.
