Howard-33: Up Off The Couch

Week2

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 224lbs.
BF% 33.6
BMI:31.4
Water%: 48.4
(I am going to check the BF,BMI and Water %'s against a much much better machine at work. One of the perks of working at a hospital is I know the Beriatrics therapists and can get access to their measuring equipment.)

Bench: 45x5, 50x5, 55x5, 60x5, 70x5

Squat: 90x5x5 (warmup 45x5)

Row: 100x5x4 (One warmup 90x5. That was do more to a lack of confidence, but I put all of them up well enough that I felt I could have finished out a full 5. However since I squandered my first set with a warmup set, I didn't want to push it.)

Well, I'm really encouraged by how everything went this morning. I was psych'ed all weekend to get in the gym today and I feel great. My lower back is alittle tight and "achy", even with stretching before and after and I feel alittle tight in the Sartorius muscle on both sides of my thigh/groin region. But otherwise, I'm in high spirits and looking forward to Wednesday.

*Update* Meal plan for the day. I have already prep'ed my meal containers to take to work. this is total of this morning, what I have for lunch, dinner and a final meal then before bed.

Thanks Nuge. This morning was excellent. Those numbers were straight from the 5x5. I figured I could follow the progression listed in sampler, and I was able to so far. I am anxious about the 150;bs deads on Wednesday. I'm honestly not sure I'v ever lifted anything that heavy as sad as it sounds. I have the grip spray I mentioned over the weekend to help with my sweat-ass palms, but it's the mental aspect of the weight and the apprehension I am facing right now.

It's funny really. I see the number put up here and feel silly about 150lbs, but I realise it's relative. For me right now, 150lbs is a feat just like the numbers others have progressed to.
I do have a quesiton about light headedness though. Last week I noticed that one I put the weight back down and exhaled, I got dizzy. Not enough to fall over, but enough to be concerned. Any suggestions?

Hell yes to Lovecraft. One of the most influential North American writers of weird and macabre fiction outside of Poe. Lovecraft has had an hand in influencing the writing of writers from Robet E. Howard to Stephen King.

Lovecraft is damn near the only fiction writer I read. My wife got me a Miskatonic University T-shirt for my birthday, and I work out in it sometimes.

Have you seen the silent film "The Call of Cthulhu?" I got it from Netflix the other day, haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It's supposed to be good.

The Call of Cthulhu is excellent. I was kind of leery about the Silent Film aspect, but it was perfect. The are also making a black and white, but with audio, version of the Whisper in Darkness. There is a trailer for it at The Whisperer in Darkness - an HPLHS Motion Picture

Cool.

I would freakin' love to see a major resurgence of 1920s-1930s-style horror films, if they were done right.

Agreed. That would really be cool. I highly highly recommend the audio books. Not sure how you feel about torrents, but you can find alot of really good audio book versions of alot of the Lovecraft material. I recommend anything by the HPLHS. The have truly excellent full cast versions with sound effects of The Mountains of Madness and The Dunwich Horor which I purchased.
