Jiu-Jitsu (nogi)
/ Rolling

Forget what we did. Gotta log it sooner.

Jiu-Jitsu (gi)

Double leg
Single leg from failed double.. yay takedowns.

Rolling

Did very well rolling. Rolled against another high white belt and swept from half guard, passed his guard and held side mount for a bit. Popped knee on belly and held that to double k.o.b. and eventually I just stood up on top of him because he wasn't escaping. A bit of showboating but the Andre Galvao in me just took over.

Jiu-Jitsu (nogi)
Lots of warmup and conditioning.

Breaking grip from the north/south kimura that I like.

Rolling

Positional sparring. Did alright and didn't get submitted at all and really worked my escapes. I need to work more on taking and finishing from the back, especially on bigger guys.

Rolled with everbody and really worked my sitting guard and butterfly. My half guard sweeps are coming along nicely.

Notes: Gotta find some way to get a better attachment device so I can do heavy sled drags. I feel like my caribeener is going to snap in half if I use too much weight. Also happy with getting another rep in with 405. Going to either up the weight to 410-415 or go for a 7th rep next session.
Get a quick link. They're super cheap and even a medium size one is rated for about 1500lbs (non-kinetic).

TD, I don't know how often you read the grappling forum (It's a little too much like the HW forum for me) but I happened to check it today and saw this:

(video) Slick triangle from half-gward

Pretty cool, and triangles are my primary sub, and this one just seems to click with me.

I think I remember hearing you say you either are a half-guard player or need to improve in that regard (?).

Jiu-Jitsu (gi)

Attacks from the back:
mata-leon (lion-killer)
various collar chokes

Rolling

Rolled with everybody, including Andre (brown belt instructor). Did great against everybody and my half guard sweeps were really coming easily tonight. Gotta keep working them.

that's not a bad attack from half guard, but i normally don't go to a lockdown half-guard unless I have to. I like to play a 'knee in the hip' game from there. but i've gone for that before and almost hit it a few times. definitely worth the watch.

i don't do triangles that much because i have large thighs (thanks alot squats and deads) and although I can submit people without locking the triangle, I often times have trouble locking it up.
