Jiu-Jitsu

Taught two new guys (only 3 of us showed) the guard pass we've been working all week (cross knee to scarf). Felt good to go over the details again.

Rolling

Rolled with one of the guys for about 5 minutes and then he was tired.

Notes: Overall a poor day conditioning and sparring-wise, but good to go over technique and teach a pass step-by-step.

Strength

Box Jump
6x24"
2x4x30"
4x36"
4x1x42"

Squat
10x45
2x5x95
2x 135, 155, 185, 205, 225, 245, 275, 295, 295

BB Rows (3x8x135)
Curlzfortehgurlz

Stretching
Proper amount of stretching.. for once.

Notes: Huge confidence boost on easily making the 42 a bunch of times. I had hurt myself last time but felt great going into it this time. I'll have to keep doing the 42 until i can do it for sets of 3-4 instead of just singles. Also, 1RM on squat is 335 right now (no belt) so doubles at 295 wasn't too bad.

ALSO! Found my only lifting straps that I thought were stolen. Saw a guy with them on and asked him if he'd found them at the gym. He said yeah yadda yadda yadda.. he wanted to keep them and gave me 15 bucks!

Jiu-Jitsu (gi)

Rolling

Update to come.

Stretching again.

For horsie:

Knee Slide Pass - Training for Warriors - VIDEO
Except ending up in scarfhold.

Edit: Old writeup from my log over a year or so ago, it was the easiest one i could find.

-slide the knee through- the knee you want ot slide through is up in front between their legs, with one hand you push down the leg on the side you want to pass to and step over it, then you slide your knee through. Make sure to keep their thigh pinned with your knee. AT the same time, with your other hand, work to secure their upperbody donw in one of 3 ways - a collar grip, an underhook, or firm forearm on their chest. With the hand that was initially holding the leg, grab their arm on the side you are passing to and pull it up. Slide your hips down to the mat, then switch your hips into a sidemount (as opposed to the kesagatme you come down in)

Some notes i would add to that: When you drop the knee coming through, try to land it RIGHT beside their hip. As you come through, Try to then put your hip in the spot where you knee was. This is generally a very slow methodical pass i find, and it is my highest percentage pass of them all i'd say.

One thing, i don't really stuff the first leg and step over. I prefer to first dirve my knee onto their chest (like knee on belly, but i'm in their open guard) while i have a good grip on both of their lapels. This really locks them down. I drain them in this position, then i'll switch my grip and get a cross grip in the collar to the side i'm passing to. with this grip, i'll use my forearm to turn their head the other way. THEN i'll start stuffing that leg and drop my off to the side.
