I'll have to mildly disagree. I guess I'm from the "tap or get tapped trying" camp.
I don't think winning on points diminshes your victories, but there is just something special about winning by submission...BJJ is one of the few sports in which you can win by forcing your opponent to admit YOU have defeated him, that YOU are superior, at least for the moment...I really like that aspect of sport, and prefer not to see scores determine the outcome.
But like I said, I don't want to diminsh Team Dragonfire's victories. Winning by any fair means>>>>>Losing

The way i see it is that if you are racking up the points you need, maintaining the positions needed, and advancing the positions. you're on your way to be in a position to submit more easily. i'll play for points because the way my jiujitsu is, i would be racking up points along the way (takedown, guard pass,KOB, mount, type of thing).
But i think in tournaments its more acceptable to start grinding out a certain position because one slight reversal can start the momentum the other way. I've seen it too many times where a person has been winning, only to get reversed, and lose on points because of that. I actually just saw this with a freind the other day.
I still think you should strive for the submission, but since its a competion where the points DO matter, rack up the points on the way. Just like TD was doing.

Good job man! Hey don't worry about the non-submissions, you submitted the guy in the finals so you could've done the same to anyone else without time limits.

see, my jiu-jitsu doesn't lend itself to points as readily as your style kaboom.
i think that although i can get out of any bad position (side, mount, kob, back), I can't necessarily get the points back within the time limit (4 minutes).
I think since i always jump guard right away, I need to work on my full guard sweeps more. That way, when i get back to full guard, I can get my points back with a sweep since my takedowns, as of now, stink.

i actually saw a guy who was up 14-0 get his back taken and thought he could chill for the last 20 seconds but ended up tapping to a choke.

Jiu-Jitsu
Miguel is out of town for his fight so we ran class. Went over jumping guard and working sweeps and subs from there.
Rolling
Rolled with everybody and felt fat and slow, but still did very well against every white belt.

Taking some time off to rekindle my first for jitsu and lifting. Also doing a great deal of stretching and sleeping.

Some of the NAGA pictures:
Middle kid is one of the best white belts at my school. Can't believe he can make 170 if he wants to:

Congrats to yourself, and to Miguel as well. His fight with Maeda was 4 rounds of destruction. VERY exciting.
