Jiu-Jitsu
Knee on belly attacks
Spider Guard sweeps

Rolling

Rolled light trying to recover from the tournament. Did get to roll one Wednesday with a few good guys. Rolled with the high school wrestler kind of kid who dropped back for a leglock on me. Big mistake. He just kept cranking on my toes and trying stuff and I just sat there waiting for him to move his leg wrong. Bang.Heelhook. Why isn';t he tapping? He sure is cranking real hard on my ankle. Time to return the favor. He yells and starts swearing. I shrug and move on to the next guy in line.

pictures from the ufc after party:

and no... we weren't even drinking.

WS4SB - Upper Body ME

  • Bench (3x95, 3x135, 3x155, 3x185, 3x205, 2x215).. no spotter but the first 2 @ 215 went up easy so 3x215 next week
  • DB Incline (2x25x50#).. max reps; 60# next week
  • DB Rows / Delt Flyes (4x8(105#)/8(10#))
  • DB Shrugs (3x15x105#)
  • Db CurlZzzzZ (2x8x50)

Notes: I like the variety of the program thus far. And, ya know what? It's fun doing a bit of vanity lifting once in a while.

Jiu-Jitsu

In opponent's half guard:
  1. Pin down far side arm to kimura
  2. Up on tip-toes
  3. Pass knee
  4. Knee on near side
  5. Pass to side mount
  6. Sit through to scarf (scarf goes around the neck, not the chest)
  7. Trap near side arm
  8. Either step over to kimura or attack trapped arm

Rolling

Went with 3 guys. Felt good off my back but didn't get or even try to play a lot of top game against them. I need to remember what Miguel said about armbarring the can-opener (instead of grabbing the back of their neck to keep posture down, grab across both their arms and spin FAST).

I'm late on this, but congrads on your tournament. Sounds like you got screwed but put in a good performance.

I'm later than mschatz...nice job at the tournament...makes me want to get back in there. I haven't competed since December, and my school/instructors have been going through a lot of chaos lately, and I haven't been able to train as much as I like to. It's frustrating. I just want to roll!

Anyway, good job again.

WS4SB - Lower Body DE

Box Jumps
3x24"
3x24"
3x30"
3x30"
1x36".. wanted to see if I could do it.
3x36"
3x36"
1x42".. very intimidating box. difficult jump
  • Split Squats (8x15, 8x25, 8x25)
  • Romanian Deadlift (10x225, 2x12x225)
  • Cable Crunches (4x15)

Notes: Really pulled my groin playing guard so much. gotta figure out how to heal it up quickly. Had to use straps on the 2nd and 3rd set of deadlifts (frustrating). also 42" box jump is very hard. I think that now that I know I can do 36" jumps, I'll do those for reps and the 42 for singles.

Showed my future father-in-law my tournament vids (still trying to figure out how to take them from a dvd to my computer) and he mentioned that it looked a bit 'homosexual'. Fantastic.

I love it when people say that about BJJ. They usually laugh and give me funny looks until I tell them how many ways I can break their arm.

HAHAHA TD, I'm laughing about your father's comment, because it sounds like he said YOU look gay, not the sport. On another note, I get very offended when people use offensive words, or don't attempt to be eloquent when I roll with friends. I once nearly kicked an annoying girl out of my house for saying "omg you guys are so gay". It's okay though, she was ugly.

I went to see how our box jumps are, their identical for a single.

Which goon are you in those pics?
