Steady Strength

Cleans 3RM
3x135
3x155
3x175
2x195.. failed 3rd rep
1x195
1x195
  • Dips+20 band face pulls (10xBW, 5x25, 3x90, 2x90, 1x90)
  • Lunges (20x60, 15x60, 15x60)
  • Knees to Elbows 4x5

Finisher: Farmer's Walk w/ 105# DB to grip failure

Notes: Still just as many heavy cleans as the last time I did them. I really feel like I should do these as much as possible in the next week and then trail off as NAGA gets closer on the first of March. Overall, a fun workout.. I can't believe that I don't do lunges.. they seem so functional for grappling.

I hear that. I'm not old enough to be a drunk yet (), but it's just depressing to hear guys in the gym talk in between their sets of preacher curls:

"Hey, where you drinkn tonight?"

"Well, I figure I'll start... (proceeds to list various bars and clubs he will get hammered in that night)."

And, from the sound of their conversation, that is the highlight of their week, every week.

That will NEVER be me. Go do freaking burpees or something.

That will NEVER be the highlight of MY week. I would, however, gladly pass up hours of sitting with friends shooting down idea after idea, in order to pass someones guard in a grueling practice of ANY martial art.

I've become obsessed lately with sled pulling and possibly getting a prowler, but unless I get a large sum of money for my birthday, there's no way I can afford a $250 piece of equipment.

Rolling "Put Through the Ringer"

4x2min. in my guard
4x2min. in my half-guard
2x2min. side mounted
1x3min. side mounted
2x7min. free rolling

Total: 37 minutes of HARD rolling.

No restduring each position, fresh guy each 2min., rest only when starting new position.
Note: This is what happens when people know you're getting ready for a competition. Felt amazing and submitted opponent at least twice every single round.

God that sounds brutal.

I saw an Econo-Prowler on eBay for about 125$, so you should check on that occasionally.

I think you should make one, though.

<2wks until competition

Lunch

Movin' Around

SOHP
6x135, singles

3 x Superset
10x Bench 135# / 10x Cable Row

3x20 bw squats

Note: Just moving around it an attempt to reduce my soreness. I am incredibly sore from yesterday. My hamstrings have been tight for about a week now and I am afraid that if I don't continue to stretch them, I'll injure myself. Gotta loosen them up before jiu-jitsu tonight.

PM

Conditioning: Did a bunch of stuff and I wasn't even remotely tired. Makes me feel good going into these next two weeks.

Jiu-Jitsu

Drilled and review this series:

Rolling:

Rolled with a few guys including Juan and felt REALLY good off my back. My neck is killing me, but nothing a contrast shower can't handle.

QMGPP tomorrow to reduce soreness in hamstrings and neck.

Semi-Rest

100 x kneeling ab-rollouts

CoC Trainer
3x4 closes, each hand

CoC1
3x close attempt each hand.. can't lock it out
2x 6sec. negative each hand

Stretching! (needed to do this for a while now)

Note: Missing Jitsu tonight because I am starting to get sick. But I couldn't just sit still so I did the above. Taking a ton of vitamins as well as extra ZMA in an effort to kick it. Also cutting out coffee as I drink too much and I fear the constant caffeine is having an effect on my immune system and my ability to recover.

Note2: Walking at 198 right now full fed and hydrated. Should make 190 easy. Also.. hell of an inspiring training highlight of michael costa.
