In the middle of my 225 squats I thought to myself.. wow, for the last 4/5 years of my life I've been hammered at this time every friday night.

I couldn't feel like my life is anything but a blessing. I effing love training. I don't understand how people don't enjoy this stuff. On that note, fun day tomorrow..

Kickboxing

~45min. of thai pad work with kicks knees and punches.. brutal workout

Jiu-Jitsu
Getting a high guard:
  1. break guard break or posture by pulling elbows out
  2. swim in and then back over
  3. jump guard up in either one or two steps and have guard over one shoulder
  4. keylock/kimura
  5. armbar
  6. straight armbar
  7. take back

Rolling

Rolled with a senior high wrestler for about 15 minutes, subbing him and lot but getting the crap beat out of me in the meantime. I gave him a break and he had the nerve to ask me if I'd 'caught my wind yet'.. MFer don't you know who I am? Proceeded to tap him numerous more times. jitsu>wrestling

I feel the same way. What was it that got you turning life around?

re: what you said in my log about your guard.

When your attacks start to slow, its time to consider the other 3 options from guard more, it'll keep your opponent honest.

1. Submit
2. Sweep
3. Stand up
4. Take the back

Focus on 2-4 for a bit, or atleast threaten those more often.

check my old log man... it's been quite a process. i look at it sometimes to see where i've come. here's two entries from past workouts:

Tricep Day:

3 sets 2-hand standing overhead tricep dumbell presses
2 sets of super skullcrushers (10 normal skullcrushers where upper arms are at right angle with chest, 10 with upper arms parallel to chest, then 10-20 quick bench-style presses)
2 sets of skullcrushers (just 10 normal skullcrushers followed by 10 presses, did these with 25lb plates on each side )
3 sets of 1 hand tricep pull downs
4 sets of parallel bar dips
3 sets of 2-hand pulldowns
3 sets of seated 1 hand overhead tricep dumbell presses (only did these last two sets cause I was pissed at all the bodybuilders sending text messages to people while flexing in the mirror while I was trying to get a drink of water... i got so mad and pumped just looking at the douchebags that I thought I needed to throw down two more sets)
3 sets of seated 2 hand overhead tricep dumbell presses

---------------------------------------------------
Abs / Cardio:

1 set of ball / leg raises
1 set of bicycle crunches
1 set of super twists
1 set of ball / leg raises
1 set of bicycle crunches
1 set of super twists (my abs are getting pretty strong, I'm pumped to see how well I can take a knee or punch now that I'm getting some solidity in the midsection, and I bet my hip tosses are monsterous now compared to their former mediocrity)
10 minutes of guerilla cardio (see above for description)

'You might have an 8-pack for a stomach.. but the fact is that I can still throw you over my head and pound your face in from full mount.... douchebag bodybuilders'

... what I was thinking through almost my entire workout
yet i was doing bodybuilding workouts.

I'm going to start putting all of my workouts into a spreadsheet so I can really see how i've been doing at going up weight / strength in exercises.

Back Day:

4x dumbell rows (12x55lbs, 10x60lbs, 8x65lbs, 6x70)
3x standing cable pulldowns (10x5plate, 8x6plate, 6x7plate).. much better form down 1 plate
3x seated cable pulldowns (overhand grip)(10x8plate, 8x9plate, 6x10plate)
3x seated cable pulldowns (underhand grip) (10x12plate, 8x13plate, 6x14plate)
2x deadlifts (12x135, 10x155)
3x Independent arm Machine Row (12x140, 10x190, 8x190).. I hate this machine
4x Back Extensions (10xBW, 10x+25)
3x machine pulldowns (10x170)... wanted to try and keep the sets low.. didn't want to annihilate myself yet again

Abs:

3x decline bench 10lb. medicine ball routine (since I have no partner I just throw the ball off the wall and catch it for: 10 straight, 20 alternating each side, 10 straight, 10 straight crunches without ball).. this is a cardio workout in itself.. didn't run today.. doh!
what a freaking mess i was

what turned my life around was reading EVERYTHING that I could about lifting and nutrition.. often to the detriment of my sleep, cleanliness, and work ethic. But yesterday, for the first time in my life, I have considered doing this type of stuff for a living.

no i mean starting to work on going back to school or getting certified and such. As BS as most certifications and college classes are compared to the knowledge I've gleaned from these boards, if they help me get my foot in the door somewhere, I'm game.
