Memorandum:

Let all take heed that I am sick of having a pencil neck. We now enter the new era of shrugs, ohp, high pulls / cleans, bridges, and maybe even a neck harness.

Scrapping this until after NAGA. In order to gain strength and size, I can't be dieting down in weight, it's just not feasible and I'm no Berardi. I can't be that insane about my diet to gain lean mass and lose weight.

But after that tournament... betcho bottom dollah I'll be eating everything under the sun and lifting like a maniac... until then... i am conditioning's bish.

Yeah, pencil necks and fighting don't mix.

Early PM

Strength Maintenance
  • Squat (3x135, 3x185, 2x225, 2x275, 3x295).. worked up to 3rm
  • Strict OHP (4x135, 4x135, 2x155, 2x155).. oh OHP, how I've missed you

Note: Worked out at work. I like lifting here, but there's about 15 high schoolers all around me. And I just learned that none of our athletes are allowed to squat, as per the basketball coach. Just wow.

Late PM

Jiu-Jitsu

Taught:

Kneebar from top half guard
Toe hold from standing in opponent's guard (remember crazy capoeira kick)
Kneebar from failed toe hold

Rolling

Rolled with a wrestler and I flowed really well and went nice and easy. then got caught in a triangle. he wanted to stop but i wasn't even tired (THANK YOU CONDITIONING FORUM) so I made him go more until he got 'hurt.' Rolled with Adam who has great flexibility and is always a challenge. Gotta work more on guard passes. In or out.. in between gets you armbarred or triangled. Also be willing to risk something from the guard. I'm too timid to try armbars.

I've been loving the standing cable crunches, they're awesome.

Keep the conditioning and GPP up! It's more motivation for me too, as I can't really attempt to keep up with XTrainer's pace, and you're the only other one who trains as consistently as they should.

I would NOT want to piss you off in class. Seriously.

Strength Mainentance / GPP

Deadlift.. work up to 3RM
3x135
3x185
3x225
3x275
3x315
3x365.. straps
1x385.. straps

Kneeling Crunches (20, 15)

30-25-20-15-10 reps:
20# MB squat
Jumping Pullups
Time: 4:02

Notes: Going to restart a lifting program similiar to WSFSB to put on some mass, including getting rid of my pencil neck... but not till after NAGA. Also noticed that in addition to taking BCAAs, I need to still be eating a LOT of protein even in caloric restriction otherwise all the hard earned strength and mass will worthless come competition time.

Got my CoC's and straps last night from Elite.. they sent me the coc2 instead of the trainer. we'll see what happens there. love the straps. played with the coc1 too much last night, thus the necessity of straps this morning.

ANNNND..... I get my zma and ba today.

Update: Called EFS and they are sending me the CoC trainer. They might send me a package to mail the 2 back to them, but if they don't... its mine! Good thing I won't close it forever.

Jiu-Jitsu

Double scoop and stack guard pass
Near side knee guard pass
Cross knee guard pass

I rarely get these so I am very excited to work more on them.

Rolling

Rolled with Mando (purple belt) who tooled on me but i love rolling with him because I learn so much. He is VERY technical and every movement has meaning for him. Great time.

Rolled with other white belts and same story as always. BUUUUUT I did weigh in at 197.2 after rolling. So that's just freaking amazing. Thanks, S&P, D&S, and Conditioning forums.
