You want to make it one motion. Don't swim and then post. When you swim, swim hard, or just post hard out of the clinch if you can. You should set up your stance for whichever side you push them too (set up for a right kick or left kick) and your hips should be in he proper place. I can't really explain it without showing you but it should be one fluid motion with the post and setting up your hips.

he's fighting in k-1.. they're really the only organization that will let him fight for them AND keep fighting in korea in spirit mc. whatever, at least he's fighting again. The UFC really missed out on him though.

Thursday, September 27th

XTrainer Morning GPP:
2xPlate Complex (50#) - 8x OH Lift, 8xBOR, 8xLunge, 8xGM

XTrainer Lunch Hour GPP:
3x 10 dips / 1min. core hold

Beginner Kickboxing

Warmup: 10 min. Jogging around the mats, crunches (crunches seem too easy any more)

Focus Mitts:
  • 1-1/1 (jabbing out and circling)
  • 2-3-2
  • 4-3-2-3
  • 4-3-2-3-slip-3-2-3 (use hook to get out)
  • Punchouts (crosses, hooks)

Finisher:
  • Sit-up hold / Hooks - partner sits on feet. Holding body at 45degree angle, hooks on focus mitts for 1 min (just using core, not arms)
  • 10 Sit-up / Punch Ups - full sit ups and punching with both hands straight up at mitts
  • 10 sec. Sit-up / Punch Holds - sit up to 45degrees and using core, press against mitts above you as partner presses you back down... this is such a cool exercise for a finisher
  • 20 Sit-up / Punch Ups
  • 20 sec. Sit-up / Punch Holds

Muay Thai
Warmup: 20min. of pushups (sets of 20 and 30), core holds (these felt REALLY strong after doing them earlier), skip rope sprints (high knees and slow skip / max jump), and 400 rep. crunch variations

Shadowboxing: jabs, punches, elbows, elbows / knees, use punches to set up knees and elbows

Technique (lots of technique.. enjoyed it):
  • using right cross to set up right low kick (throw almost same time)
  • 2-low kick-3 (get out with the hook)
  • catching the jab / counter with low kick
  • parry cross / counter with low kick
  • catch low kick to big overhand right or throw leg away to mid kick

* Great point was made about needing to be in headbutt range if you're going to throw elbows.. no tony jaa stuff w/ flying elbows and whatnot
** Miguel made great points today about 85% of first punches being jabs. Throwing your own jab with bad intentions and make sure you PUNISH oppinents when they throw weak jabs (hard leg kick or overhand rights)

holy shit... i cant believe i forgot to post this.... I made a raging fire... and all was well.
----------------------------------------------
Last night of the campout:

I start a nice fire and everybody is enjoying it.

[6 millers later]

Out of nowhere I hear somebody say "Are we going to have a campfire tomorrow morning?"

"No."

"Anybody want to use the rest of the wood?"

no response..

[6 more millers later]

Small camp fire built in the iron-lined "shitty campsite fire circle" has mutated into a 15-20 log motherfucking inferno. Everybody was originally sitting 5-6 feet away and now there is a 15-foot 'do not enter for fear of incineration' circle of people around the fire.

People kept sarcastically saying "hey man.. i think the fire is dying down (note the sarcasm)" but I was way too deep to understand that nonsense and took what they said literally adding more and more wood.

There was no semblance of order to this fire... oh no.. it started out as a cute little tee pee. Then I added enough to wood so that a log cabin could be built on top of the tee pee. it got to the point that i was just throwing logs into the napalm-esque fireball.

I did you proud. Hopefully there's some pictures that I can post on here.

and, last thing, as I was adding the logs near the beginning of the insanity, my first though was "shit, I bet this has nothing on finnegan's fires. that many uses whole trees."

Awesome to here.
Sounds like you had what we like to call a "meteor". A meteor is a fire that is basically a big pile of incredibly hot embers with jagged spikes of logs sticking out. Its okay if you are in the "comfort zone", but if take two steps toward it, its like hitting a wall of heat.
These types are the most dangerous because they generally have no large, cold logs surrounding or crossing them acting as shields in case someone falls in.
Still, its a start. Good stuff.
