I feel a lot more comfortable slipping punches and attacking from the clinch. Here's to hoping that we'll work more on the clinch some time soon.

XTrainer Morning GPP: 50 pushups / 50 squats

Was going to go to muay thai class, but went to see Superbad instead. Totally worth it. Lifted when I got home (what I was supposed to do the other night).

Strength / Plyometrics:

  • Bench Press (5x115, 5x135, 1x155, 1x175, 1x195, 1x205)
  • 2x10 Medicine Ball Pushups / 10 Pushups (no break)
  • 5x10 clap pushups (yikes!)

If you have a natural ability with it, I suggest learning more about it. I love clinching, feels like a comfort zone for me.

Absolutely, I know that Brandon Vera has developed a nasty clinch from working greco, muay thai, and then adding in dirty boxing. Randy Couture works along the same lines. Seems like the way to go

He has a DVD that I've thought about checking out because, based on what I've seen, heard, and read about his seminars, he's fantastic at breaking down good basics and working on ways to make basics flawless. Have you heard anything about that?

Agreed with clinching for striking purposes being awesome. Knees, elbows, and hooks are my preferred strikes, and I love wrenching guys around by the neck. Now I just need to figure it out for grappling purposes...

I haven't seen it, but sounds interesting.

And don't throw hooks when clinched, at least in a thai fight. You don't even get points for it and you just get the shit kneed out of you.
