You're lucky all you did was move half speed. The ONE time I ate right before I rolled, I had to run with my hands over my mouth, puking as I did, into the bathroom.

It was embarrassing.

Got there late and didn't get to do any technique today, just rolling.

Rolling:

Rolled with Ruben, Mike, and a new guy (twice). Stretched out, relaxed and felt totally cooled down. Then rolled with Stuart and hurt my knee. I've finally got my guard passing where I want it, but now I really want to focus on my guard and on taking people's backs when they turtle. I hurt my knee pretty bad rolling with Stuart (rolled it sideways) and if it's better tomorrow, I'll be starting the Ross' program.

Lifting / GPP (am):

5x Circuit:
5x DB Snatches per arm (40lb.)
5x DB Swings per arm (40lb.)
10x Burpees

Total time: 11:24... could've done this much faster or upped the weights.

50 snatches, 50 swings, and 50 burpees. Brutal.

AM

Jiu-Jitsu (nogi):
  • Arm traingle from side mount - worked on locking it up, jumping over, and how to sit through to scarf.

Rolling:

Rolled with three Tony, Jose, and another guy. I felt confident with all three of them but wasn't able to sweep Jose until right at the end (and then caught him with the first part of the scarf-keylock-armbar-kimura flow). I was able to get kimuras either from I-position or from guard on all three. Really need to start working my guard sweeps.

PM

Interval Running:
  • 4x800m
  • 4x50m

Core Training:

3xCircuit:
  • 5x Flag
  • 6x Side Bends
  • 15x Superman
  • 16x Russian Twist

Lower back has been INSANELY stiff lately, especially when I've been sitting or laying down for a while. Going to try to really build back my strength there and see if it helps.

Lifting:
  • Deadlift (5x175, 5x215, 5x245, 5x265, 5x265).. did these barefoot and I enjoyed it much more than in my running shoes
  • Stiff-leg Deadlift (8x175, 8x185, 5x195, 5x215)
  • Weighted Pullups (3x5x25lb.)
  • DB Clean from floor (3x45, 3x55, 3x65, 3x75, 6x75, 6x75).. First four sets were tests, last two were working.

NOTE: I really need to stick with the quick morning workouts. My body composition has really gone to hell lately and I feel that 8-10 min. first thing in the morning will do wonders.

When my back tightens up, I stay away from SLDLs.

Right now my back feels great, but I'm going to stretch it like crazy and hope that I don't wake up paralyzed tomorrow.

I did the lower back work because I feel like my glutes are always tight and so are my abs and obliques and they're pulling on my lower back from every direction. Then again, this may be complete nonsense, but its just a hunch.

I had hyper-mobility in my lower back and I'm beginning to think it may have been what was causing some of the pain. I'm moving away from yoga and lower back stretches, just to see what happens. Oddly enought, pitols seem to help too.

so you think over-stretching may have been the cause? because I've been stretching it like a madman lately.
