Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)
  • Side Mount - Keeping a nice tight side mount..
  • Modified Side Mount - ..transfer to modified by grabbing opponent's shoulder / gi and their pants. Sprawl back and put all your weight on their neck and chest. Remember to squeeze arm that is around neck....
  • Knee on Belly - ...switch grip from shoulder to back of neck / collar and pop knee on stomach. Pull up with grips (collar / pants) and press down with knee.
  • Mount Escape 1 - trap arm. muck up. reach disagonally across body. roll into their guard.
  • Mount Escape 2 - snake out to escape hips. trap opponent's leg with your opposite leg. Push down on their knee to escape to half guard and then either work for full guard or attack right away into a triangle or omoplata.

Rolling: No rolling for fear of spreading the disease (unconfirmed ringworm) on my arm.

GPP:

3x Modified CrossFit's 'Helen':
400m run
11x Double DB swing (40s)
12x DB Push Press (40s)

Didn't keep track of time as I was in a huge rush. Many of my workouts will be short and to the point in the next few weeks and I probably won't go to jiu-jitsu much as the job search for next year is on in full. Had an amazing job fair last saturday (hence no workouts last weekend), and an incredible interview today. Hopefully something pans out with them because I'd love to have a job secured as early as possible. Wish me luck.

Lifting:

Warmup: Farmer's Walk (i.e. carrying all of the weights outside because the ceiling in my apt. is 6'6" (6' in some places)... hard when you're 6'1")
  • Push Press (3x115, 3x135, 3x145, 3x165, 3x145, 3x145, 3x,145 ).. had to clean the first one for each set. Very poor clean on the 165 really made me nervous about hurting my shoulder, so I dropped back down. Will definitely do more of these in the future. I like them more than benching and once I start classes again this summer, I'll have gym access.
  • Dips (10xBW, 8xBW, 5x25, 5x25, 5x25).. can do these much heavier, found a great place to do them outside
  • 2x50 Medicine Ball Throws from Back (10lb.)
  • 3x20 Medicine Ball Slams

Finisher: Carrying over 200lbs. worth of crap back inside

GOT A JOB OFFER TODAY! BACK TO JITSU.

Jiu-Jitsu (nogi):
  • Sweep Position - grabbing opponent TIGHT around back of neck and pulling their head down, escape hips out, put butterfly hook in, and close distance
  • Kimura sweep - If opponent pushes butterfly hook down to pass, go for kimura on that arm. Use butterfly hook and kimura to kick/pull opponent over for sweep
  • Guillotine - Escape hips and stand all the way out to get guillotine. Instead of jumping back into guard normally, jump guard and pin opponent's hands to their side.
  • Sit-Through sweep - From sweep position stand up and out with a wizzer. Wizzer HARD and sit through FAST for sweep.
  • Triangle - From standing wizzer, jump back in to triangle

Rolling

Rolled with Ryan, Ruben, Stuart, and two guys whose names I don't know. Good night. Got choked by Stuart once but we went 1-1.

Lifting:
  • Zercher Squats (5x115, 5x135, 5x165, 5x185, 5x195).. focus on deep squats with pauses at the bottom
  • Pistols (3x5/5+25lbs.)
  • Walking Lunges (3x15x40lb. DB)

maybe next time zercher squats or pistols.. maybe not both. but I love doing the zercher squats. They've become my new leg strength main exercise.

Finisher: 50/50 DB Axe Chops
