Miguel got a bit dinged up in his fight last night, but his takedowns looked really good and he choked his opponent in the second round. The show (IMMAC ATTAK) was awesome as far as production value but I bet they lost tons of money because the seats seemed pretty empty. Anyways, back to lifting today:

Lifting:
  • Deadlift 5x5 (175, 190, 210, 245, 265)
  • Stiff Leg Deadlifts (8x155, 8x175, 5x185, 5x200)
  • DB Rows 3x8 (105lbs.).. brutal on the grip
  • 2x10 Kneeling Rollouts

No higher belts showed up tonight so I ran warmups and Christian and I ran class until Miguel got there. Weird experience running class.

Jiu-Jitsu:
  • Worked a simple guard break that I didn't really like so I won't bother typing it out.
  • Sweep - from opponent standing in your guard, hold on of their sleeves and work a push / pull on their legs and use their sleeve to pull you to side mount. Very basic but one I always forget.

Rolling:
  • Takedown King of the Hill - AS it was all white belts, I was able to beat everybody there until Blue showed up finally got me.
  • Sparring - sparred Blue and Damien. Tapped Blue for the first time ever. Noting some serious progress.

Conditioning
  • Damn near 600 ab / core reps
  • squat / pushups with a 160lb. man on my back

**NOTE** Been taking my multivitamin and greens+ before bed and I have noticed an insane increase in energy and 'awakeness' (not even a word) in the morning.

I'm just curious as to why you take your multi and Greens+ at night before bed?

I just figured lately that I should take them as a part of my post jiu-jitsu regimen. I just couldn't figure any reason to wait another 8 hours to put my vitamins in my body after jiu-jitsu. I don't know about the greens+, but as far as the multi, I feel it has the same effect as taking ZMA before bed. I feel like my sleep has been much better quality than ever before.

Jiu-Jitsu (gi/nogi)
  • Butterfly Guard Pass - Pop up and hip into his butterfly, putting all of your weight directly on top of his guard (NOT over it). Swing one leg up and over into the baseball slide into side mount.
  • Open Guard Pass - Kick back one leg, then the other and fully trap one of opponent's legs. Place head on the ground across opponent's body and leap over landing on your feel, facing upwards. Immediately turn towards opponent's legs and work to secure side mount.
  • Butterfly Sweep - With one butterfly hook in or all the way across opponent's body, reach up and over adn grasb their belt / pants. With the other hand grab their pants near their ankle. Scoot in to get under them and then kick / pull over, landing your in north south. If they roll to their stomach, don't let go of their pants. Pull them up and take back.

Rolling:

Rolled with Ozzy twice and some new guys. Good self-esteem booster for the night but wish I would've rolled with Miguel, Juan, or Mando.

Generally a rest day

Some crap before bed:

4x15 Kneeling Rollouts
100xbodyweight squats

**NOTE** I'm still eating garbage and although I'm getting a lot bigger and stronger, my weight is still going up and I gotta start cutting the fat back.

Jiu-Jitsu (gi):

Crazy Sweep (best way I can describe it) - get overhook on opponent and grab THEIR cross collar (not your own, like I always did in the past). As they pull their arm out (or try to), you sit up with them and come out to knees keeping overhook. Before opponent can limp arm out of the position, you can either slide back in for a triangle or pull forward and hip in to sweep into side mount.

Rolling:
Rolled with a bunch of white belts and a new guy. Another good night of rolling but no serious challenges or memorable rolls.

Jiu-Jitsu (nogi):
Takedowns - Just went over the double leg takedown over and over, step by step with Bobby. Hopefully, I'll be able to work with him more in the future as my shot isn't too awful, but definitely not up to par with even a high school wrestler.

Had to go handle some business so lifting bright and early tomorrow morning. But still had to throw down a little bit tonight..
Core Training:

3 circuits:
10x kneeling wheel rollouts
15x V-Ups
10/10 Russian Twists
12x Back Extensions
50x Bicycle Crunches

This thing has yet to get old...
