Thursday, April 5th, 2007

**They always say that a log is the best training tool and I've felt exhaused for the last week or so and I realized that it's because I've been doing something (powerlifting, crossfit, or jiu-jitsu) every day for almost two weeks straight with no rest days. I'll be taking off tomorrow until Jiu-Jitsu on Monday. Might throw down some stuff over the weekend, but we all need a break at some point

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

After an early birthday, I received Infitite Intensity by Ross Enamait and I'll be adding a LOT more of that into the log. His program will probably replace my current 5x5 / CrossFit stuff, but we'll see. Next week, I have off work all week so I'll be hitting Jiu-Jitsu almost every day as well as doing Ross's stuff.

Monday, April 9th, 2007

12pm

Interval / Core Training:
4x800m (90 sec. rest).. this is the closest that I've been to vomiting in a long time
4x50m (jog back to start line, repeat)

5 circuits:
5 x The Flag
6/6 x Side Bends
15 x Superman
8/8 x Medicine Ball Twist Throws

7pm

Jiu-Jitsu (Gi):
Kimura - Went over a lot of different kimura's. Main point to take away is to remember to keep their shoulder tight to your chest so they can't posture up. Also, from north-south (head trapped) kimura, drive elbow into their chest for splits econd before attempting to break defense.

Rolling:

Tonight we did a free flow rolling. Just giving a little resistance and going light. Really emphasized flowing and constant movement, allowing for defense of subs. Most fun I've had rolling in a while. Then rolled full on with Rob.

Forgot to add this before..

MMA:
  • Worked 2x5min. rounds with Miguel try to stop his takedowns (no strikes)
  • 1x5min. Miguel trying to stop takedows (note: Miguel's takedowns are getting ridiculous) with strikes
  • 1x5min. with Gene (didn't even try to stand with him and went jab/jab/shot every time.)

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Jiu-Jitsu (Gi)
  • Armbar from guard - remember to push to get hips out and use other leg to pull opponent over
  • Armbar from opponent grabbing bicep - grab their hand that is holding onto their bicep and continue armbar. This will break resistance and make the armbar tighter
  • Triangle from opponent pulling out arm - self explanatory
  • Keylock from guard - if opponent will not let your excape your hips, climb guard up to and over (slightly) their shoulders, from their do inside kimura / keylock. if they resist and pull back the other way, they set themselves up for the armbar.

Rolling:

Rolled with Kenny, then Jose (a new kid so it was a lot of shots and cartwheel passes and knee on belly). Then rolled with Marshall who, as usual went for a bajillion Ezekiel chokes and although he didnt finish, it was too much pressure on my neck. Great learning experience as always. Gotta remember to go for butterfly sweeps.

Wrestling / Takedowns:


Went over takedowns for about 20 minutes with Kenny. I just kept shooting on him over and over but he doesn't have the best takedown defense... yet. I'll work with Stewart on this more in the future,

Lifting:

4x3 1-Arm Dumbell Clean / Press (55, 65, 65.. easy when done upright and not at an angle)
4x4 1-Arm Snatch (45, 65, 65.. easy)
  • 4x5 Pullups (BW)
    4x15 pushups (BW)
  • 4x5/5 Pistols (+25lbs.)
    4x5 Glute/Ham Raise (60..easy)

Finisher: 50/50 Dumbell Axe Chops
