Got to clas late so no technique. They went over the same thing that we did last wednesday. breaking grips into spider guard to triangle or omoplata. I really like it when we go over the same thing over and over and over until everybody is good at it. That's how I teach my history classes and that's how jiu-jitsu should be taught as well. None of this random technique every class crap that so many teachers do.

Rolling:

Rolled with Juan, Mando, Albert, then some white belts. Starting to get better at guard passing but still can't pass Juan or Mando's guard. Albert still tools on me for me having 70lbs. on him. We have some TOUGH white belts at our school.

Made the rookie mistake of crossing my feet while on one guy's back. Pumped to roll with marshall on wednesday, hopefully we'll work on some butterfly or half guard sweeps.

Apparently Couture is opening an xtreme couture on the west side of chicago. can't wait for people to start competing out of his school so our guys have more people to tool on. A good point was made that if Couture sends all of his best guys out to run their own schools, it'll make his camp in Vegas really weak. I'll have to keep my eye on that. \

last note, can't wait for my thai gloves to get in so I can start hitting up some kickboxing classes!

AM

Jiu-Jitsu (nogi)

Armbar and triangle defense

Rolling:

Rolled with just Eric and did fine. Ended our session with a nice kimura from side mount.

Afternoon

11K RUN.... fuck me.

PM:

Kickboxing (haven't done any of this in a while):
  • 1-2-3-knee-3
  • 1-2-3-knee-3-block-2-3-2-inside leg kick
  • 1 rnd. crosses

*both of the above combinations were drilled for 5min. each
**can't wait for hand wraps to come in

MMA Sparring:

3x5min. rounds with Bill going light. Bill kept trying to work hands and I kept shooting and taking him down.

1x5min. with Bill in front of the whole class. Got sloppy on one of my takedowns and got choked but otherwise I did alright... really need to work on submissions from side control

Rolling (gi):

2x5min. with the gi on with Bill again (we're the same size) and this time he was gassed and I had my way with him. DEAD tired after this.
