Tuesday

Lunges
5x135
5x145
5x155
5x165
5x165

Bench
Doesn't work today.

Thursday

Wrestling- Scissors sweep - Armbar - Omplata/Triangle

Things to work on: Better in/out movement in KB. Better defensive hands. Head movement on the jab.
In wrestling: What to do after sprawling, working from and against the turtle. Fine tune single leg sprawl.

Friday

Lunges
I think I'm getting turf toe from my shitty shoes and all the hills aroun dhere. This plus severely sore buttox made me quit after my warmup sets.

Bench
5x5x175
Some pain but I felt perfect on Saturday so I guess a little pain is good.

Pull Ups
3x7xBW

Saturday

Wrestling- Collar choke from under guard - Armbar - Underhook Kimura - Triangle.

My sparring (KB) is getting better. I think I'm finally getting over the hump and its starting to feel normal to me. I need to throw more combinations though.

Of course I almost managed to sprain my ACL. Sexy.

I did ONE REP of DL on Firday and my back hurt on Saturday. I'm not positive they are related since I felt no pain durring the rep. I dunno a Bulging disc is getting more and more likely.

ZOMG I haven't posted (or lifted constructively) in like 5 months. A combination of injuries (back, both shoulders, knee), life shenanigans, and an oppressive work/school schedule have eaten me alive. I can't even train MMA for at least the next month. Also a close look reveals that I have achieved NONE of my goals. That's pretty cool. Good news is that I am healed mostly and have time for lifting 3/4 times a week. So it's back in the saddle. New goals. New zeal.

Let us continue the WORST TRAINING LOG EVER

I'm doing the WSSB, modified without a second arm day (though since I'm not training right now I'm gonna add it back in as soon as I can.

Friday

Front Squat
5x95
5x115
5x135
5x155
5x175*BORKED

Lunges
3x8x125

Pull Throughs
3x12xbig stack o'weight [These suck. Did nothing. I can't find any good Hammies exercises in my gym. Im tired of 45deg Hypers]

So... What to say about this abomination? I had never done a full front squat routine and my Back squat form was so awful I couldn't bring myself to attempt it. I borked my 175 attempt by setting the safety bars too high and then falling asleep during my next attempt.

I'm not sure about my future doing deads but my back feels decent so I think I'll add medium weight deads on my DE day.

I also need to ad abs. I've had bronchitis for like 3 months now and been coughing so much I could (marginally) justify ignoring them but it seems I will never get better so I might as well suck it up.

I'll update my goals when I have a chance. I want to fight this year though. I REALLY want to fight this year. I NEED to fight this year. I MUST fight this year. It's so awful that I've never been more motivated for MMA then I am right now and I can't fucking do it. I just have to take care of "business" this month and get back into it with a fury.

6.5x65
7x65

Left arm didn't want to work today.

Super Set: Close Grip H-Rows/ Rear Flys

Ultra Manly Section

SHRUGS

Thursday

Squat
5x5x155

My memory is a bit hazy here but my form was still shit so I was changing weight and reps all over the place just working on form.

Sad I missed 190

Deadlift
1x1 135
1x1 185

I'm so beefy. First time doing deadlift in 6 months so ya know... just making sure it didn't kill me

Power Cleans
135. Easy Peasy
185. Not so much BORKED

Just trying out P.Cleans, haven't really done them since high school. My catch is awful, I need to work on form.

I was still RIGHTEOUSLY SORE from Tuesday so i chose a workout that would let me work on form and be ready for a full day on Monday.

Monday

Squat
5x135
5x175
5x175
2x2x185
5x135

I'm still not being very scientific. It's hard to have a real max when you are out of shape and have shitty form. I don't think it matters much what I do till I'm in better shape as long as I'm working and keeping good form. My form was better than Thursday so improvements is improvements.

Lunges
2x125

MORE EXCUSES: I got 3 hours of sleep the night before and came into the gym after 10 hours at school so my body was burned to a crisp very early on.

45deg Hypers
25x12
Hate these. Need to get a rope or a chain and do reverse hypers until I feel good enough to do SLDL

I bitched on 2 sets but I can be forgiven. My squats we better and I got 2 leg days in a row which is positive.

Tuesday

Bench
3x45
3x95
3x135
6x3x185

Finally hit this mark again. Made me sick to not be able to do this. Once I can do 6x3x195 I will be back to full strength.

Close Grip Bench
7x130
8x120
8x120
Yeah probably not a good idea right after bench

BORs
115x8
120x8
115x8

First time doing these since coming back. Felt decent. I'm scared to do higher weight though.

Ultra Manly Section

BARBELL BEHIND THE BACK SHRUGS IN THE SQUAT RACK
3x12x185

This gave me a hardon

ZOTTMAN CURLS
2x6x35

I may actually have to up the weight on my curls... I don't know if I should be proud of that...

Thursday

Power Cleans
2x45
2x95
2x135
2x140
2x145
2x150 (at this point I realized i cant add)
2x165
2x170
1x175

Wanted to see where I was. My form off the ground is great but my catch is an atrocity. I also realized I have to do these on an Olympic platform (so I have to do them on mondays) because my grip is so shitty. I droped the bar after finishing my 170 set which totally psyched me out for my 175. But then this hot girl came over and I was all like, "Shiiiiiit I'm gonna show this bitch some muscle". Hit that 175 like butter.

Weighted Swiss Ball crunches
4x12x25

Barely felt anything but I realized the next day why I hadn't been doing abs. I have bronchitis and every time I cough it is excruciating. Oh well, I have to do abs and the sickness isn't going away any time soon.

Meh. I was borked from Monday still but I think this is the last week I will have to hold back at all. Also, if I have to go easy on something I should still do the left, just at a lower weight.

I ALSO need to find a place to do box jumps. It would seem like and easy proposition: find something high and jump on it. But no, there's nothing nowhere to jump on. University has 4 gyms and none of them are worth a shit.

find or make a box?

until i had access to a gym, my friends and i would scoop up a bunch o mud in one hand and slap it onto a brick wall or tree or whatever to test our vertical jumps. the mud stays for a long time until washed off so you can come back a few weeks later and do it again. i always knew my mud because i was the only left-handed mud print on the wall.

i'm sure you can go out and find something onto which you can jump. jump up stairs.

in my day, all we had were mud, sticks, and rocks.

if only we had lifted the rocks.

See, jumping up stairs doesn't really work because the stairs don't get high enough until they are too far away. Then it becomes a half broad jump. I've been doing broad jumps/depth jumps in the mean time but you don't get the same flexibility/balance work.

I'm both searching for things near my gym and thinking about building one. It's harder than it sounds building something worthy of stomping on 1000 times.

But I am definitely going to work in some bicep stick curls and mud presses.
