It was intense. I feel like a great big light has been shown on my anaerobic inadequacy. I am really, really motivated.

That's fuckin' awesome. I'm finally getting like that about lifting. Only if it could transfer to grappling, cardio, and grip work.

Baby steps. But then again, I work 12-13 hours a day, so I'm not gonna whine about it too much.

Good shit man. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite logs.

Thanks, FATKID.

Okay day. I am disappointed about not finishing on bench. Oh, well. I am also trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of the 5x5. There is no way I will be able to advance as the workout requires after adding the intensity of the kickboxing sessions 2 to 3 times a week. Considering going to just two lifting days a week but I can't seem to work out a program that hits everything I want to as often as I want to.

Bench:
115x5
135x5
210x4(accidentally hit the rack and got all fucked up, went ahead and racked it)
210x5
210x5
210x5
210x4.5(Couldn't do it. I think I would have had this if I hadn't started the Lion's Den stuff this week. I am still feeling that first kickboxing workout.)

Squats:
65x5
95x5
115x5
155x5
205x5

Dynamic Rows:
65x5
95x5
115x5
155x5
205x5

Kickboxing class on Saturday. I can't remember everything we did this time.

5 minutes of jump rope
Stretches
Various punch combinations alternating with pushups and situps or frog kicks

Some punch kick combinations alternating with lateral jumps if you were punching or jumping jacks if you were holding the pad.

Four stations
Station 1: Kickboxing on the heavy bag
Station 2: Alternating at the instructor's direction between pushups, planks, and one arm planks
Station 3: Squats with a medicine ball. Raise the medicine ball in front of you to shoulder height as you squat.
Station 4: Mountain climbers.

Bridge for 2 minutes
Plank for two minutes

This isn't entirely accurate. We did all that stuff and some more stuff but not necessarily in the order written. Anyway, it was something like that.

Kickboxing tonight

10 jabs
20 push-ups
10 jab/crosses
20 sit-ups
10 jab-cross-jab-cross
20 push-ups
10 squats
10 squat jumps
10 jab-cross-hook
20 sit-ups
10 jab-jab
20 sit-ups
10 jab-clinch-knees
20 situps
10 jab-cross-clinch-knees
20 push-ups
10 rear leg low kicks
20 sit-ups
10 front leg high kicks

and on and on and on. Seriously, the above is probably about half of the session.

At the end we took turns raising our hands in the air and taking punches to the stomach. Gloves off.

Finally, 30 push-ups. Or so I thought! This time he went to 40 and I was unable to finish! Damnit.

In the post workout talk, Guy mentioned how pumped he is for the movie 300.

Jump rope 5 minutes.
Stretch

Today was combinations the entire time with pushups for 1 minute and situps for 1 minute in between each combination.

Jab
Jab-Cross
Jab-Cross-Hook
Jab-Cross-3 Knees
Jab-Cross-3 Knees-Yank victim to side, throw another knee
Jab-Cross-3 kness-Elbow-Elbow
Lead leg kick to inside lead leg, follow with cross
Lead leg kick to inside leg, follow with elbow

I felt good about my endurance increasing. I think I did more pushups than anyone else. Still kinda sucked on situps.

I suck at kicking with my left leg. I'm not getting my hips into it.

We finished with a timed duckwalk. That SUUUUUCKED. I was okay for a while but my legs are really tight and really inflexible. When they start locking up, it feels like pulled muscle time is shortly behind.

Haven't hit the weights all week and the result is some kind of multiple personality disorder workout.

Bench:
5x135
4x185
3x225

One-arm bench:
5x55(right)
5x55(left)

Squats:
5x135

One-arm bench:
5x75(right)
5x70(left)

Squats:
5x185
3x225

One arm overhead press:
3x55(right)
3x55(left)

Squats:
3x225

Pull-ups:
4xBW+20

Squats:
3x225

Snatch grip deadlift standing on 4" platform:
5x135
5x185

Loved platform snatch grip deadlift and one arm bench press. Those are definitely keepers.

Another workout. I am fairly certain I have found the hardest lift ever.

Standing Overhead Press(strict):
5x45
5x95
2x145
5x125
5x125
5x125
5x125

This was my first time doing OHP the way everyone else here does it. I had always done military press behind my head before. So I had to feel out the correct weights a little bit. Turns out it's pretty much the same.

Pull-ups:
5xBW
5xBW+20
5xBW+20
5xBW+25
5xBW+25
5xBW+30(hammer grip)

Snatch grip platform deadlift(made this harder by only using 25's and lower on the bar)
5x95
5x145
5x165
5x185
5x195
3x215

Those are the hardest lift ever. You feel it in your whole body and it's murder on the posterior chain.

MMA Wrestling class tonight.

Jog, shuffles, various somersault variations, 30 push-ups, 30 sit-ups, 30 leg raises, 30 hindu squats to start.

Practice single leg take down from over-under clinch with partner.

Practice double leg takedown from over-under clinch with partner.

Practice a throw from over-under clinch with partner.

5 minutes king of the hill, wrestling for a takedown. Won my first two match-ups, lost on the third. That guy (incidentally, the smallest guy there) had my number. I won most of the time over the other two but I only got him once and that was some bizarre move on my part. Somehow during a double leg take down where he totally had me, I levered him over with my knee when he was in mid-step and ended up in mount. Couldn't do that again in a million years.

That drill also killed me as far as endurance. Got tiiiiiiiired and hoooooot. I hate rashguards(compression shirts).

3 minutes in partner's full guard trying to submit him. He managed to get me in a guillotine once. I don't really know any submissions so I tried to use the one I learned at my one previous class. Boy did I fuck that up. I went for an achilles lock and failed to wrap my legs around his. The result was that when I dropped back he just sat up on top of me.

3 minutes of partner in my full guard trying to submit me. He quit before the end out of boredom. Wasn't too hard to avoid submissions and keep my full guard.

A good class. I have a LOT to learn.

Kickboxing class tonight was pretty straight forward. We did a bunch of combos involving punches kicks and knees. We started off shadowboxing and moved to drills with partners. Between each combo we did either 20 pushups, 20 situps or 20 squats(10 regular, 10 jumping).

We finished class with a gut check. You hold your hands in the air and let your partner punch you in the stomach for about a minute or two. We did 2 rounds each. I felt really bad for my partner at this point. He was dying the entire last half of class already. I tried to take it relatively easy on him but Guy kept coming by and telling me to "Give him some more love."

So, you know . . . I had to . . . cause the instructor told me to.
