Thursday October 23rd
PM
went for a run with two friends, they are in great shape, and I am not. Jogged, huffed, puffed, jogged, cramp, jogged, shin splints, jogged. Need to get cardio better.
Now to eat a big ass steak for dinner.

Update time.
Pretty much took the time off to see if my arm would recover, then got a cortisone shot on it. Relieved the pain but the arm is still visibly fucked, it shakes uncontrolably if I try and do an isometric contraction with it. I do not believe it is impairing my bicep strength though, though it does make the bicep muscle slightly flicker if I flex or use it.
I am going back to the doctor tommorow who gave me the cortisone, formality really as I need to go to him to get a referral for a specialist in arm surgery. So see him, see the specialist, specialist will probably tell me to get a CT scan, get that, then go back to the doctor. So hopefully I can assess what is really wrong within 4 appointments, which I am trying to get all done within the next 2 weeks before I go back to Darwin.
I may try going to the gym tommorow. See how it handles.
Did some grip training today, whatever the problem is in my arm/elbow, it doesn't affect my grip.

Maybe a stupid question Foz, but did you do ANYTHING else to it besides gripping the bar wrong on squats?

well not the gripping, but how it was supported by my wrist/grip put all the weight down through my elbow. I didn't realise I was doing it wrong until i got my copy of Starting Strength (co-incidentally 1-2 days after i injured it.)
Being an idiot though after I strained it on the squats I always finish my workouts off.

Yeah, that's what I meant, just position, etc. It hasn't been that long since I read that part of SS 2nd Ed. I'm just surprised it's still giving you so much trouble. Hope it gets better man.

thanks for the well wishes dude.
yeah 6 weeks and a cortisone shot you'd think it'd been peachy by now. I'm potting that I've torn a tiny ligament or tendon or some shit that is just affecting it all. I'll just try going to the gym tomorrow and seeing the doctors about it till i get some answers, can't do much more than that.

Wednesday - 12th November
did 60 mins LSD, kept heart rate as high as I could without reaching lactate threshold, very hard on this shitty stationary bicycle. looking forward to some trail riding when I get home on a real bicycle.
got a CT scan on my elbow on Monday, see a specialist surgeon about it on Tuesday and go from there. Hoping it is just some small keyhole surgery that can have me back up and running within 6-8 weeks. meh.

Monday - did 8 mins of 20 seconds ME, 10 second rest on the stationary bicycle, then finished off with 12 mins of LSD just keeping my heart rate at a decent pace.
Saw a specialist upper limb surgeon today, says I have a level 2 tear in one of the ligiments in my arm and if it were a level 3 he would opperate, but wants me to get physiotherapy on it until February when I return to Brisbane and see him again from then.... bit annoyed would rather the surgery as I do not think they can really rehab this, just hope it heals. But will go see a sport physiotherapist when I get back to Darwin next week. No point seeing anyone here as I leave in 6 days.
