My deadlift has went up 5 kg lol
I pulled 205 kg yesterday at my event in Wales. It wasn't pretty, all back and terrible form, but I should be back with no leg injury soon.

Congratulations maori. What was your total in the contest? How about first place? Where did you stand? I'm excited for you to be healthy so we can see what you've really got

I just started grip work about a month or two ago. I never specifically did grip before then. I first just did holds and hangs. I've picked up a few different ideas recently. I'm buying a house right now so I'm on a buying hold for new equipment. I'm always open for new ideas though. My grip and wrist strength sucks IMO.

^^ Impressive. I have to have a hand on the wall for balance on pistols and I don't think I could do them at all with 40 extra pounds. I can hardly do them at all, lol.
Excellent pull Maori!! I'm also curious about your total, overall standing, etc.

Have you found that your grip work suffers by doing it the day after pulling? I'm thinking I will probably start doing my grip work schedule for Thursday, since I pull on Monday. I know my forearms hurt for 3 days after those snatch-grip deads, and I hurt just to close the #1 CoC the day after. I couldn't even get the #2 once

What do you mean when you say lifting from a deficit?
What are snatch grip deadlifts? [I'm going to look on youtube for vids of this, I just wanted to point out that I didn't know what they were]
Don't think of me as "retarded" - think of me as having lots of room for improvement.

Speed work means they are working with a light load compared to their max, focusing on lifting it explosively.
Pullining from a deficet means that they are standing of a weight plate. box. or some object that gives the lift a greater ROM.
Snatch grip deads are wide grip deadlifts, normally done with the index finger placed on the rings. This also leads to a greater ROM.
Hope that helped!

This was all bang on. Speed work or DE work (dynamic effort) focuses on moving a weight as fast as possible. It tends to give the best results when used with bands and/or chains which give accomodating resistance.
Without bands and/or chains, you get a lot of speed at the start of the lift that carries the weight through to completion. With chains and/or bands, you have more weight on the bar as the lift nears completion. This helps remove momentum and requires you to push/pull harder as the lift gets closer to completion.
Basically, it allows you to learn to be fast and to have a really good lockout.
Until you have a good deadlift base down, don't worry too much about accomodating resistance.

I normally don't do it until two days after pulling. My weeks have been all screwed up due to twisting my ankle and commitments (meetings with realtor) since I'm buying a house. I normally do "push day" on Tues, "pull day" on Thurs, "grip day" on Sat., and "cleans day" on Sunday. This past week with my ankle hurt, I've done grip a lot.
I'm definitely a noob when it comes to grip training. I'm still trying to find my routine that works. I need to buy some CoC grips still. Until I get those, I can't really gauge my progress well. I have a cheap gripper that I hold shut as long as I can and do reps fairly easily. I definitely hold things longer than I used to be able to. I'm also assuming once I get those I may not be able to do grip the day before Power Cleans.
