Joshetc's Deadlift Posse
Here is the official thread for the Sherdog Fall/Winter/Spring deadlift contest. I'm going to update this post with PRs hit for everyone throughout the contest.
If everyone could post their current PR and their goal PR in this thread I'd appreciate it. It looks like the original PRs from the old thread were removed so everyone will have to update.

SocraticMethod
Starting: 235 (shut up!)
Current: 235
Goal: 350 (+115)
If you call the team Skull Harvest you don't have to change your av.
SocraticMethod's Strength & Conditioning Log (Advice/Criticism Appreciated)
EDIT: Since I hadn't checked my deadlift PR since before the squat competition (but mostly just cuz other teams noticed that I hadn't checked my deadlift PR since before the squat competition) I checked my max tonight, and that should, fairly squarely, be my starting PR.
SocraticMethod
Starting: 280
Current: 280
Goal: 395 (+115)

I know you'll have no problem hitting 350 in 6 months. I think our team has an awesome balance of young people with low maxes and tons of potential as well as experienced veteran lifters with tons of knowledge and beast ass deadlifts (thenerdking, remy, to name a couple)
If you want advice, let me know. I hope everyone on the team can really help each other out. Also, I deadlifted tonight:
10-2-08
Deadlift 225 x 10 (double overhand)
Deadlift 315 x 5 (double overhand)
Deadlift 405 x 1 (over/under from here out)
Deadlift 425 x 1
Deadlift 445 x 1
Deadlift 445 x 1
Deadlift 445 x 1

injuries, i has them

kaboom187
Starting: 195
Current: unknown - haven't lifted in a couple months due to injury.
Goal: 315 - conservative in spite of injury, but my real goal is to get 405 eventually, although probably not in 6 months. Long long ago i was already at 255x2, so i figure i should shoot up quick.
Team name suggestion:
Team SkullFuck. harvesting skulls didn't prove to be the best idea.
log: Word. (BJJ + Weightlifting)
EDIT:
I'm open to suggestions for a beginner program. I'm thinking i will do Starting Strength, as i was having success with it in the past. However, I was reading a thread in the SnP that mentioned doing a higher volume, moderate intensity workout to help build up tendon and ligament strength. I think I should consider this and try to implement it in my early lifting stage, perhaps the first two months. I say this because i'm injury prone and i'm currently coming off a knee injury, so a stage to help build a solid foundation may be best in the long run.
Any suggestions on the matter?

Oh, and as soon as we come up with a name & an av I'll edit mine accordingly.
As stated in my log (Last entry) I'm taking a rest week to start things off. Not planned for the contest, but due to my g/f having surgery a few days ago and no daycare at the gym. I can't train till she's ready to take care of the baby by herself again. I think she's milking it, but what do I know?

hey Mr smart-ass, I was under the impression that the contest doesn't officially start till Monday (the 6th) anyway, & she should be fine by then. I'm just pissing & moaning basically about not working out this week, lol.

I agree with your take on the matter. Slow and steady will prevent a lot of injuries. Also, I'm going to leave your starting PR how you originally had it. I don't want to take any heat for sandbagging and would really like to try to be as fair as possible.
If anyone thinks they have something more in the tank, a swift PR to fix your "starting PR" should be in order. I'd rather beat everyone by being the best (which I think we easily can) than win by having a head start from people not having true PRs at the start of the contest.
