Jerrods' training log(Conditioning for the coming apocalypse)

Join Date:January 08 I am a 31 year old construction worker/musician. I am looking to strengthen my spirit, mind and body. I will mainly be discussing my physical training on here. I used to be in very good shape back in my early to mid 20’s. Now, not so much but I am getting back into it. I’m starting to feel older and a little shitty. So I am seeking to hold on to my youth as long as possible, I want to feel good and strong, lose some body fat, add muscle, improve flexibility and strengthen my entire body. I started working out again about a month ago. I am 6’ 1’’ 225 pounds Today my workout consisted of: 3 sets of 8 chin ups 8 sets of 30 push ups 7 sets of 30 set ups 4 sets of 34reps shoulder shrugs 130 pounds

Definitely peruse the FAQ here and in the Conditioning forum. Do you have some kind of regimen you plan on adhering to?

OK, Jerrod, glad you made it on here! You're already doing great on the bodyweight exercises, but I want to set you up with an even better circuit you can use in a round format, resembling the demands of boxing or MMA, to better prepare you for the demands of Doomsday!

You have access to a pull/chin-up bar at home right?
What sort of weights, dumbbells, or other resistance tools do you have access to?
Do you have a sledgehammer and an old tire in the backyard? If not, get it.

Good job! Is this all in one workout (if so, how long?), or spread throughout the day?

Good job - today you should try some sprints and/or a long, slow jog to build up your cardio. Or, you could also do some sets of bodyweight squats and lunges to work the lower body today.

Are you drinking plenty of water, especially during your workouts?

I'm drinking 8 to 12 ounces of water per workout. During the day I drink lots of water, a glass or two of green tea, one cup of coffee, 4 to 6 ounces of orange juice mixed with 5 to 7 raw eggs

OK, let's see some sprints or aerobic cardio work too. You could also do some Tabata bodyweight squats - let me know if you need to know how to these. Good job on your workouts - you are working both legs equally on the lunges right, going to parallel and not extending your front knee beyond your front toes, right?
