Hi,

Yes I have no problems with these weights and I do have a stoma. I can do squats too but I'm currently not because I've injured my feet from running. The most I've liftted from squating is again about 80kg.

I emailed the specialist at the hospital where I had my operation. Paraphrasing, he said:

Lifting weights increases pressure (on the adbomen) and increases risk
of stomal herniation which would need surgery. Please be
careful. 1-2 kg weights should be ok for fitness but try not
to get into ironman type workouts.

Wikipedia has a good section on hernias:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hernia#...ypes_of_hernia

But does not mention "stomal herniation".

This has got me really worried. I have emailed him some more questions and will post them back.

I did however find a several references to people with stomas weightlifting at:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.s...lifting&qt_g=1

which is an online forum.

Icon14 Give it to me!

1-2 kg for fitness. Classic . Thank you very much for the info. If you got some new information I would appreciate it if you post them in this log.
I would try the pouch. If its worse than the stoma you can always go back to it. I guess its worth a try.

BB at its best today. Back and Bis.

- Pullups 18/10
- DB single hand BOrows 3x8x42,5kg
- Uprightrows 3x8x50kg
- BOlaterals 10x10kg/10x12kg/10x15kg
- Hammercurls 3x10x20
- Regular Curls just took the bar and repped out for two sets
- LAtpulldowns to chest 1xthe stackx20 something [my back, bis and lower arms were fried as hell at this point]

CAN YOU FEEL THE PUMP?!

Rest periods 60-90 seconds (60 seconds most of the time). The best were the DBBorows. Screamed like a madman and kept on repping. I have to admit that this acumulated fatigue BB aims for is fucking great from time to time. Thursday will be legday. Sunday chest, shoulders and tris. Will do this uberghey split for the next 3-4 weeks and then back to real lifting.

- Some push ups on the PUBs
- 25mins low pace on the stationary bike

Want to buy some o.g. Pride gloves. I usually spent my money on food as things are only things to me and I dont care to have a big TV, big car or anything like that. I dont give a fuck how my room looks like. People could paint on the wall if they wanted to. I guess I wouldnt even recognize it. the clothes I like arent expensive either. That means that I have quite some money to spend just because I dont spend it on stuff normal people spend theirs.
So if I buy something I really want ( which means that I thought about buying it very well) I want this and nothing else. Why am I telling this? Because I would like to ask you wether one of you ever ordered some pride gloves themselves and wether they are good or bad qualitiy and where he bought them.

About this high dropoff and fast twitchfiber you talked about interested me.
I usually have a high dropoff, despite having good cardio. Especially if going all out in the first set, then Im totally washed up for the next set.

You have anymore info or remember where you read it?

You can get Pride gloves from the official Pride site here but I haven't bought anything from that site and I can't say how good they are.
I have some Pride T-shirts from events and they're great.

@ lard ass: It was in some t-nation article. It wasnt really explained why. ITs just that fast twitch can only fire for a short while and then need quite a long time to recover.

@Waxwinglain: Thx for the link.

Those gloves are quite expensive. But hey! they are the o.g. rpide gloves. Always wanted to know how it feels to wear those. Pretty childish I know. But anyway . Not sure which size I should get. M or L? Im 6'1. Hmmm....
Got my biochemistrybook yesterday. Will get an anatomy book soon. So as my current healthcondition is good enough so that I can concentrate for a while I will start learning some stuff. I learn better by hearing and interacting with a person aka being taught. But that doesnt mean I cant learn stuff autodicatic. I just prefer the teacherway. As I dont have a choice at the moment I will try to be my own teacher.

Yesterday I had to spend the whole afternoon and evening in bed. Urgh, did I feel bad. to day I feel a bit better but still pretty bad. Will go to the "Ergo-Challenge" at the rowingclub anyway as I was looking forward for this event. They will go for one WR. Afterwards everyone will head off to the "Backfischfest" and party hard. I will have to go home. This is gonna be tough. But Im still in war. Not much to expect from life then.

They broke the WR. Was a great atmosphere. Today was the infamous chest/shoulder/tri day.

- bench 2xfailurex80kg [supported reps on the second set - yes I do everyhing evil atm]
- Inclineflies 2xfailurex15kg
- seated backsupported DBOHP 2x10x20kg [I rushed through the exercises so at this point my muscles just felt empty; very hard time stabilizing the weight]
- Side raise 8x13kg/8x15kg
- Pushdowns just went at it for many sets with 60sec rest in between
- Frenchpress many sets many reps

So I am the first time through. 2-3 more weeks to go. After that I will post some pics and return to real lifting. I do 3x8 chins on the offdays atm and include some sets of frontsquts in my warmup before every workout. And of course: Rotatorwork. Now that I do this regulary my shoulder feels much, much better. Tomorrow I will go off the second antibiotic. Lets see what happens antibioticfree. If it goes bad again: Ciclosporin A or Humira 160mg. We will see.
