Not easy to answer. Im usually that guy who listens to music without knowing which band is playing or how the song is called. I just like some stuff and some not. One band I like is Queen. then I like hip hop remixes with clasical songs. Like the Cramina Burana remix.
Stuff like Cypress Hill and House of pain are also on my list. Oh, and the old stuff of Busta Rhymes, like Break ya neck is nice. All those new songs from Nelly Furtado also rock like Godd things come to and end etc. And of course a German band called Seed. Again more the old stuff. This band is da bomb. I have probably forgotten half of it but...
EDIT: Forgot The Prodigy. Pretty much all tracks from them.

Old friend are funny things. The ties of a shared past are strong, and loyalty is high on my list of respected virtues, but there are times when it occurs to you that if you met one of your oldest friends for the first time today, you'd probably never bother speaking to him a second time. People change in different ways as the years grind onward. I don't think I've flat given up on an old friend yet, but guys who were constant companions ten years ago are ones that I never hear from any more, and friends I've known for more than half my life wind up becoming people I can talk to once every couple of weeks, but no more.
Old friends are funny things.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments here.
I don't call people close friends easily. I have maybe two friends I'd go through hell for. My best friend period is my girlfriend, and she probably and hopefully will be even after we stop dating.
I think what you'll get out of friendship also depends on how much you're willing to risk for it. For example, real close friends to me I'd do anything for. That means I can get a lot out of those friendships, or I could (and have) get burned hard.
Graedy, in the Analects of Confucius it is stated that you shouldn't associate with people you are superior to. This is so that you always have good influence to draw from and superior skills to learn. It's not a new idea to self-help strategies. But it also doesn't mean you can't keep the friends you love despite the problems they have or the lives they lead. Think of it this way: to better yourself, pick the friend who best embodies each attribute you admire and try to learn that from them. This could mean you select 7 friends with 7 different qualities. In this fashion, you are recognizing that you can learn something from anyone, and better yourself, while realizing that friendship, and love at its core, is not a cost/benefit analysis.
My lady is the most patient and kind person I know. One of my two close friends is the hardworkingest (er ist am fleissigsten, ...German works better there...) guy I know. The other is compassionate, intelligent, and very spiritually gifted. This core group of people I would go to jail for. Then there is a host of less-frequent friends I love to hang out with, but who can solve some of their own problems without me...
Know what I mean?
Hope you're feeling better, G.
I'll set a weak-ass PR for ya too on the 31st.

I would say its more like you can hang out with people better than you without necessarily calling them best friends. I dont think you make friends (real close friendships), so you cant really choose them. It just happens.
Looking forward for your PRs, guys.

Graedy, I think what you are saying has merit.
...however I also think the selection process comes before the friendship process. You can't become friends with people you don't interact with.
If you can close the #2 I'm going to cry... I'm so weak... my bones crack closing the #1
