then i stretched and went home.

yesterday i did:

five 2 minute rounds sparring. it was okay, though when i was watching the tape i noticed i didn't commit to a lot my punches enough & it made them not extend to hit my partner.

i would have gone for 7 singles for each but i was very close to my literal 1RM (100% focused, untired) and the last few sets were fairly shady.

front squats:

1 @ 60kg
1 @ 65kg
1 @ 70kg
1 @ 72kg
1 @ 72kg

i didn't get the volume i wanted but i was pressed for time and had some almost-fails. the last squat i did came out awkward and i decided to let it be the last for the day. overhead squats were okay but difficult, mostly shoulder/upper back strength issue. front squats felt like i could have maybe done 10-20 more lbs but i was only trying for 2 reps to prove i could do it.

next month goals:

clean & jerk: 70kg
weighted pullup: 30kg
squat: 90kg
overhead squat: 60kg
front squat: 77kg

we'll see how that goes..

today i did:

warmups
two 2 minute thai boxing rounds on the bags
~1hr untimed rounds on the bags

the squats really drained me, i am not all that sore but i'm very tired and i felt like my punches and kicks had very little snap to them.. i may take the next day (or morning) off after heavy squats in the future (1x/month).

i felt like i was gonna shit out my ABZ

today i did:

striking: focus mitts, slipping and countering drills.

jiu-jitsu: armbar from the mount when the opponent is pulling their arms into their chest, kimura if they defend the armbar by tucking their hand into the far elbow, into straight armbar if they straighten out of the kimura, or into the original armbar w/ both arms in.

open: i rolled with one guy, he subbed me several times and i subbed him a few times, he got me in a triangle and armbar, i got him in a few armbars. i thought i had him in an anaconda but i didn't flatten him out enough or otherwise failed to roll him onto his side enough to finish the choke. maybe i didn't walk my legs up enough? i can't remember. mostly it was just us passing and regaining guard/half-guard.

i sparred two 3 minute rounds boxing, my sparring partner showed me some strategies to change up off the jab into a slip+bodyshot, slip+hook to the head, or overhand left if they start throwing uppercuts.

i am still getting used to switching up to match/counter their reactions.

i went to striking class tonight. worked counters off the jab & counters off kicks to the lead leg, and some conditioning. i feel better having trained 2x today, i think my vaginitis is clearing up a bit!
