I was pretty surprised myself. Deadlifts from the floor did hurt though, so I believe it's a getting low issue on the pain and not a body compression issue.

BJJ: 1 hour
Worked some guard passes.
Start standing while they're down. Slide a knee over one of their legs and underhook the opposite leg. Pull that underhooked leg up to your shoulder, reach your other arm to crossface, and plant your ass out while your leg with the knee slid over pins their leg down still. Let go of the underhooked leg and post it to their hip and shift your hips to be in a normal side control position.
The next is the same position, but they block you from passing to the opposite side of the underhooked leg, so you cross grab with your arm that's underhooking the leg and make a swim motion to pass under that leg.
Then we went over a move where they stand to pass your guard and you have a lapel. Use your other hand to grab their same side ankle. The foot that is on the same side as your hand grabbing their ankle goes into their hip and then the other foot goes into the back of their knee. Push and pull. They go down. Ride them up and over, your foot in the hip passes over toward their side. Keep the grab on the ankle. Keep your elbow of the lapel holding hand to your same side knee and baseball slide over through their guard.
Then we did that from standing position.
Then we went over standard armbars from guard. I can't do those without it hurting. That really surprised me that I could do everything else today, but not that.
Watched free roll afterwards for about 30 minutes.

Smart to hang out of the rolling with that broken rib. Technically it takes 6 weeks for a bone to heal.
I've been through about 4 broken ribs in my Judo career.
They suck. Just take the time to heal, like you're doing.

I got another doctor's opinion today on the rib. He believes it's cartilage damage. Also, I have a stretched tendon in my left foot, a couple broken toes (who doesn't though), and a spot on a tooth that is actually where the enamel was crushed.
I'll be back to training on Monday. I went home for the past week to visit family. I'm taking it off.

Rock Climbing
Climbed 5 or so different rock faces, each of varying heights (40-60ft in height, I'd guess) and difficulty. Some of them were pretty physically intense. Lots of fingertip pullups and other fingertip holding. My forearms were pretty wrecked afterwards.
Feeling good today and hoping to make it into the gym later today.

It was super fun. I don't have rock climbing shoes though. The guys I was with do it a lot. They told me not having those shoes puts me at a huge disadvantage. But, they shouted out plenty of advice on holds and what not.
It's a ton of fun to get into. Do you know if there's any place to climb near you?
