Men cut wood with:

1) Chainsaw
2) Splitting maul
3) Sledge and wedge
4) Axe

Pick a more appropriate tool next time. Fatass.

The bowsaw IS my chainsaw and I already split the bigger stuff with a maul. The Stihl Farmboss is in my future, but only after I own a sofa and maybe a truck.

Thanks for the advice Boneoh!

The trike is at my parents because I have no truck to transport it and when I borrow the truck from dad it is always to haul something else so it sits in his barn.

In case anyone is curious I did the 5x5 on Monday. I had to lower the weight a ridiculous amount to finish so I will just say that I did squat, bench, BOR and leave it at that.

I weighed in at 321 this morning (Oct 1). 19 down 36 to go. Still a rate of a little less than three pounds a week to make goal.

I realize that lifting would make this happen faster, but I am having a hard time wanting to make it a priority now. I always have something that needs to be done with the house and generally it is something that requires time and exertion. Right now I need to set up the new mower and fix the old trimmer to mow and weedeat the yard. I have more rounds to saw out of a couple of logs of oak. The area where I have my power rack is full of uneven gravel while the carport is dirt, so I would like too shovel the gravel out of the covered RV parking where the weights are and put it where we park the car. I also need to finish my ground blind for deer season and it is squirrel season as of today.

In other words it will be a while until you see regular lifting because I am choosing not to make it a priority. I am choosing to keep the diet clean and to stay active on a regular basis. I will continue to loose weight and if I start to slow too much then this will be my motivation to workout more. The heavybag will be getting used and I will try other workouts as I get things around the house squared away.

I realize that my choice not to lift regularly will slow my weight loss and I admit that I am weak. The sucess that I am having with my diet change is a big factor in my choice and I know as my weightloss slows I will be more concerened with making lifting a priority. For now I will say that I am going to strive for three workouts of some sort a week in addition to field work and yard work.

Here's what i think you should do.
Buy a regular bar and 2 45s, a 65 lb dumbbell, and a pullup bar.
Do ONE of these exercises daily and attempt to bring up your total number of reps as high as possible. I suggest doing 15 sets of whatever reps.

1. bodyweight squat/lunge
2. push-ups
3. bor
4. jerk
5. dl
6. assisted pullups (help pull yourself up with your legs off of a chair)
7. db snatch

Do not skip any days
Do not rape your heart by making these non-stop cardio - you're too heavy and, also, cortisol is a complete bitch.
You will lose weight because high volume lifting uses up a fuckton of glycogen, regardless of rest periods.

Thats absolute bullshit right there. We're not talking about you adding some inches to ur gunz here, we're talking about you not only adding YEARS yo your life, but also improving the quality of life of those year and costing about half as much in health care costs per year.

That is a WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY pussy excuse right there. Maybe you need to quit starting new logs for the "accountability". Just wake the fuck up and realize you have to do something for yourself and your family.

New log title: AS is full of shit

That last post was whiny bullshit. I think I will start back with a little of whatever and build my way back to a full and regular routine.

My diet took a couple of hits this weekend. The weekends seem to be when I am weakest, but overall I have been very disciplined with eating clean.

I don't think there's anything wrong with concentrating on weight loss and starting to lift again when you hit your short term goal. Just be prepared to be weaker than you are now when you start back. That's what happened to me. Hopefully I can regain strength without eating like a dipshit (which was why I was as heavy as I was in the first place.)

Good luck man. Keep eating clean and try to get at least some BW work in a few times a week. Splitting wood is good too.

AS, honestly, I've been hard on you, but if you were one of my clients I would put you on something even more simple than a 5x5. I think alot of people in your situation think they need to do more than they have to to make progress. The truth is you have a lot of habits to overcome and expecting to train like someone who has never experience your situation is unrealistic.

If you're interested in hearing anything I have to say shoot me a pm and I would be more than happy to give you a more realistic training regime until you reach a place that makes it easier for you to follow a "more conventional" routine.
