Boxing
-30min treadmill
-Knee-ups x30 per leg (hands against the wall) supersetted with Step-ups for two minutes twice.
-Jab/Cross, 150 times x 1 set.
-1,2,1,2, 150 times x 1 set.
-Punching bag, 70 times x 15 sets.
-Abs circuit.
Thursday
I was out of town visiting a friend who works in a nearby city. I joined him and a few others at the local expat boxing club run by a couple of ex-British boxers.
Boxing
-Jump rope. The boxing club is held in an old Hapkido dojo, so the floors were all padded. I didn't have the same problems as I did when I tried jump rope on the hard floor.
-Practiced my jab and moving for the first part.
-Practiced Jab/Cross with the other instructor.
Using focus mitts and the heavy bag. The instructors there really helped me with my form, which turns out is incredibly bad. Some of the things I need to work on:
-Stance was too narrow, Legs not bent
-Punches thrown with arm, not with full body
-No snap to the punch.
-I'm always throwing the punches with power, no real speed or technique
-My hand drops after I throw the jab (especially as the time rolls on)
-When I tire the jab turns more into a 'pawing' than an actual punch.
They showed me a few exercises to practice at home to help me with my movement and punches. Overall it was an eye opening experience learning with different instructors. As I've gotten used to hearing the majority of instruction in Korean. I'm gonna have to try to make it out there again.
Friday
Still at my friend's place. Gyms are closed as it's a national holiday here. So I had to make due with some dumbbells at the apartment.

-Learned a new combo from one of the older boxers. 1,2,4,2. I practiced it on a different bag (shaped like an upside down pear) for a bit, then the trainer came back and told me to go finish my regular routine.

I found wearing my new chucks has made a big difference in both my squat and deadlifts. It was a pain in the ass getting them here though. I generally wear between size 15.5 and 16 (american) shoes and they're impossible to get in Korea. A couple of times a year I have to order stuff online and have it sent to my folks, who then send it over to Korea. Ends up costing a a lot especially if customs decides to be dicks. Last time I had shoes sent to me they held them for a couple of weeks until I sent them a copy of my passport and a letter stating that they were for personal use and weren't going to be re-sold. But aside from a couple of stalls in one of the markets, there aren't any places to buy stuff for large people. Now I just have to wait for my new boxing gloves (XL) to be sent over.

Tuesday
Boxing
-30min treadmill
-Jab/Cross, 150 times x 1 set.
-1,2,1,2, 150 times x 1 set. The trainer kept checking up on me today. I was feeling tired and he kept on my ass whenever I started slacking. Some problems I had were not pivoting my foot into the cross, dropping my left hand whenever I got tired and moving my hands too slowly.
-Punching bag, 100 times x 10 sets. This time I had to circle the punching bag, sidestepping and punching. Five sets circling right and five sets circling left.
-Abs circuit.
After last weeks derailing of my diet, my weight is back down to 138kgs. I was surprised how easy it was to put on 3kgs when you eat like shit.

-20min treadmill.
-Jab/Cross, 150 times x 1 set. The trainer was watching me today. Halfway through he stopped me. He said I wasn't putting much effort into the punches. Well, actually he said, "Guevara. Guh-mahn-hae. No~" while mimicking a little girl play-punching. I'm gonna assume that's what he meant. Either that or I punch like a kid. Anyways, I took a quick breather and started doing it proper.
-1,2,1,2, 150 times x 1 set. He was happier with these. Kept making sure I kept pace.
-Punching bag, 100 times x 10 sets.
Gym
I was late out of boxing so I had to haul ass to the gym. Normally I do the deadlift sessions separate from boxing. But my schedule has been a bit wonky these days. No surprise as I was bombed a few sets in. Next week I 'll work deads on a separate day.
