Thanks man. I do both of those torso stretches (with and without band tension) almost every day and most of the other stuff you listed as well. I agree that swimming is underrated too. I do planks every so often and should do them more because I suck at them, so obviously I have a weak ***** in my chain somewhere.

I really like Y-band stretches for upper body - YouTube - Y-Band Set Up

-back's feeling good.

12" log
95 x 5, 5
145 x 5
185 x 3
205 x 2

Yeah I'm fine. It didn't really hurt too bad. I just sat there and was like "mother fucker" as I felt blood dripping every where. It's not too deep and stopped gushing blood after like 1 minute of pressure which I think is a good sign. The tip of it is still bleeding a little bit but I'm not worried.

I am mostly pissed because I didn't get to finish my damn workout. Hopefully I'll be fine driving like 5 hours in an hour and it'll be fine white water rafting tomorrow...

Saturday 7/26

White water rafting was fun. A lot more intense than last time. River was 18 miles long and took us I think four hours. My head didn't bleed at all despite getting tossed around a bit and jumping off giant rocks and stuff.

Monday 7/28

My hamstrings and lower back have been EXTREMELY tight the last two days. I was having trouble tying my shoes. I had giant knots on both hamstrings, felt like there were golf balls under my skin.

Warm up. Stretched and foam rolled my hamstrings a lot and it helped.

Jerks using the yoke (messing around while waiting for andy)
90 x 5, 5
140 x 5, 5
160 x 2, 2
180 x 2, 2
200 x miss, miss, 1
-I had the bar set so I can barely dip down at all to force me to be more explosive. I liked them and think they may help with my explosiveness.

Zydrunus press
95 x 8
145 x 4
145 x 4
145 x 4, missed 5th
-These are a lot harder than I thought they'd be!

Incline press
145 x 8
185 x 5, missed 6th....?
Switched to a closer grip
155 x 8
155 x 8
155 x 8
135 x 12
95 x 20

Axle push downs (suspended by all of my bands)
2 sets of 10 with just the axle
1 set of 15 with a 5 on each side
-doing these with my axle instead of barbell worked much better since it's lighter.

Didn't seem like a bad workout, but I am feeling EXTREMELY week. I'm lucky I am half way decent at jerks because my pressing strength is absolutely terrible.
I haven't had a good workout since over a week before Hudson Valley. I really hope I can squat normally tomorrow because when I don't squat (haven't really squatted in over a month I believe) I feel like such a pansy and get really weak on everything else.

I also apparently bled more than I thought because there was blood in spots I didn't notice and on a bunch of my weights and my oly shoes.

I read in someone's log on marunde's site that travis ortmeyer got the exercise from zydrunus savickis.... he sits on the floor with no back support and sets the pin in the rack at shoulder height and presses the bar, stopping each rep on the pins before pressing. It was much harder than strict presses while standing for me because you can't lean away from the press at all when it gets hard. On the missed rep once I hit my sticking point I just had to put it down.... I couldn't grind through the rep. Savickis is one of the best pressers in the world, so anything he does has to help.

Tuesday 7/29

Back feels kinda shitty, but in a weird way.

warm up + SLDL for a few sets + extra dynamic stretches

Box squats (added an extra plate today to make me dead at parallel)
135 x 8
185 x 5
225 x 5
275 x 3
315 x 3
add belt
365 x 3 (easy)
315 x 5
-every set was easy and I was good for more, but they all felt crappy. Probably partly because I haven't squatted (or box squatted) in a while, partly because my back feels crappy. I just went to parallel because I was weary about going low because of what happened last week.

-More back traction here

Barbell rows (pause each rep on the floor)
135 x 10
225 x 8
255 x 8 - felt crappy, didn't go heavier
drop set - 235 x 8 -- 185 x 10 -- 135 x 10

Shrugs
315 x 12
365 x 12
405 x 12
took straps off
315 x 10
225 x 40

Hammer curls (1 arm at a time) / neck harness from all 4 directions
55 x 8 per arm / 25 x 12 per side
55 x 8 per arm / 25 x 12 per side
Just neck harness 50 x 12 to the front

Not the greatest workout, but much better than they have been.
