Thanks. I was originally going to do the one in Jersey on saturday, but when I hurt my back again, I didn't send in the application. So now my next contest will be 7/12 which looks like it'll be a good contest for me. Only problem is is that I think I'm gonna miss hitting events for the next 3 weeks and may have to take a full week off the first week of june (going with my friend to the jersey comp cuz he's competing on saturday, then I will be on vacation the following saturday and wont be home till the sunday after that. Hopefully it doesn't set me back too much. Here's the entry form with the events/weights
http://www.nastrongmaninc.com/pdf/entries/hudson08.pdf Only thing that sucks is that when they originally brought up the contest, it was supposed to have a car deadlift (same as last year's when I did this comp) and I was really looking forward to killing that event. Then when they posted the entry form, they subbed that out for a yoke with the exact weight that has been humbling me for months and months.
Sunday 5/18
Rode my bike to the beach (9 miles round trip)
Was going to do burpees or something else at night but I was so tired and decided to try to get to sleep early, which didn't end up happening....
Monday 5/19
warm up
Axle technique work out of the rack (or started as that)
70 x 10
120 x 5
140 x 2 for 4 sets
160 x 2 for 2 sets
180 x 2
200 x 2
230 x 2
250 x 2 misses....
-So I'm stupid. As I was going through these sets, I thought every set was 20lbs heavier than it was. So by the time I got up to the 160s, I thought I had 180 on the bar. These felt like I could have thrown them 100 feet in the air, so I threw 20 more on, same thing. 20 more, same thing. So I thought I hit 220 for a double like a joke. Decided to put "250" on. Hit that for a double beltless which would have been a huge PR. Was super stoked, then thought "wait a second....." look at the bar and realize it was only 230. Then realized every other set was 20lbs lighter than I thought, which is why everything felt so easy. This completely bummed me out and I lost all enthusiasm to lift. Tried to psyche myself back up and attempt a new pr of 250 and missed it. Stupid. Put my belt on and tried it again and wasn't even close. Stupider
So now I feel terrible, am psyched out badly and my forearms are killing me.
12" log clean and strict press each rep from lap
145 x 5
185 x 4!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW I was aiming for 10
185 x 3 and missed the 4th!
My forearms are throbbing at this point and I decided to skip close grip and call it there. Ugh, terrible.
