Never tried a face shield, myself, but I've banged my gloves into my sparring partner's before. I think they ended up frustrated with them and detaching it before long, but I'm interested to hear about your experience with it.

Brandon: I hate headgear, period. I know I'm going to hate this headgear just as much, and probably more, than my standard headgear.
Still, its very hard to train elbows or anything approximating 50%+ w/ MMA gloves during the last couple weeks before a fight without a face shield, and our gym owner is once again dragging his feet getting us the gear we need.

can we just note that you were hockey fighting at at 6 or 7? i would do anything to avoid a fight in a game because you couldn't really hurt the person and some ahole would always come barreling in swinging his stick around like he was conan the barbarian. __________________

Hockey stick fighting has got to be similar to Scythe fighting. Grip it so the blade is low and forward; one hand center, the other 2/3rd from the end. Jab with the blunt end and sweep the legs/ ankles with the inside of the blade. Jab the throat of the fallen.
