Thursday 7/10 Events
I was going to do events on Saturday, but I got offered more hours at work on Saturday so I had to take it. Last night I decided I had nothing to do all day today since it's my day off, so I got up at 8 and did events.
Log clean and press (clean once)
*first 3 sets were all done strict*
90x5
110x5
140x5
*push presses*
180x3
200x1
230x0 Cleaned it, but couldn't get the press*
Yoke
90x40ft
270x40ft
370x40ft
470x40ft
470x40ft
Farmer's carry (weight is per hand)
115x40ft
165x40ft
235x40ft
235x40ft
Video is coming for the 200 log clean and press, I definitely need pointers on that. I also had a hard time cleaning the log with my Inzer lever in the way. Any other people use their Inzer lever on the log want to give me tips that would be sweet.
Strongman video being loaded now as well, only 6 weeks late.

Alright, it seems like it would be hard to get the handles straighter with my elbows pointing up, but I'll try it when I do it next week. Since you don't have the lever belt I'm assuming you've never pressed a log with one on right?

@ 0:01 - No belt. Trust me, you don't need it, so don't get used to having it. It'll fuck you up with the lever, and if the log rests on a lever at all in a comp the lift doesn't count. Ditch the belt.
@ 0:01 - I'd also try to get used to lifting from the ground not the tire. I understand if they're there to cushion the grass from divots when you drop it, but I'd recommend cleaning it from the ground.
@ 0:16 - wider feet
@ 0:17 - knees go forward too much/hips don't sit back AT ALL
Pause @ 0:18 - the log is way in front of you. The log isn't much different from most overheads in that you've got to get your head through - as fast as possible.
Excellent work for your first time! And great job locking it out and holding it until a down signal could have been called. When you get more comfortable with the hip thrust aspect, you'll want to use it to not only throw the log higher while putting the head through, but also using those stable hips to drop yourself a few inches under the log.
Keep it man!

Yea, I didn't use a belt at my contest because they said you were DQed if you rested it on the belt. Next time I'll try it without the belt, now that I think about it I don't think I barbell press with a belt on.
Good point about lifting from the tires, I hadn't really thought about that. I'll keep the tires there to drop the log on to and roll the log on to the ground next time.
When you say my hips don't sit back at all, should I stick my ass out a little bit basically to get my hips back? Also, why exactly do I so this?
And I have a bad habit of that when pressing overhead, I get my head out of the way and then don't get it back until I'm almost locked out, even on heavy reps that take a couple seconds. Bad habit I know I have to fix.

If you lift with your hips forward you don't get any hip/glute drive. You lifted with all quads, no posterior chain. You wouldn't squat without your hips, right? The push part of a jerk is done by mimicking a quarter (or less) squat.
So just like a squat, your first motion should be to sit back a little bit. Watch how much easier it makes the weight seem!
If you know you have a bad habit about your head, fix it!

Ahh, I see what you're saying now, that makes much more sense. And yea, I need to work on that. I don't realize I'm even doing it until I see it on camera.
And thanks for your help man, it's much appreciated

Friday 7/11 Pull
I felt like I did something to the upper right part of my back yesterday. I thought it was just sore but it was still bothering me today, so I decided against deadlifts and did light hang snatches instead. It feels fine right now, I was being a little too cautious I guess.
Hang snatches
45x5
65x5
95x5
115x5
115x5
DB rows (standing, leaning on the preacher curl rack)
40x15 (each hand)
50x15 (each hand)
60x15 (each hand)
Weighted Back extensions
BWx10
+50x10
+100x10 I really liked these, I've never tried them before really but it was a great lower back/hamstring exercise. These are going to stay.
I used straps for the DB rows and the last set of the back extensions because my grip is shot from yesterday from some reason. For being as sore as I was I thought it was a good day.
