I'm not sure really. Before I do them on Monday I'm going to watch a video and read an article to double check if I'm doing everything right, so I'll have to let you know lol

I'll probably post another video to check form on Tuesday.

I found this on t-nation.

Quote:
Mistake #13: Starting to teach snatches with a snatch grip

When I realized that snatches would be a great lift for my athletes I began to implement them into my programs. Within a week some athletes complained of shoulder pain. In two weeks, so many complained that I took snatches out of the program. It wasn't until I revisited the snatch with a clean grip that I truly began to see the benefits.

Just remember, the only reason Olympic lifters use a wide snatch grip is so that they can reduce the distance the bar travels and as a result lift more weight. Close-grip snatches markedly decrease the external rotation component and also increase the distance traveled. The result is a better lift, but less weight.
This guy was an NFL trainer or something, so you are probably doing them right depending on your goals.

Damn, thanks a lot mongrel! I appreciate it, because I tried both grips and figured I had to just get used to the wider grip. Now that I know that, screw that, I'm going to clean grip it all the way.

Monday 10/22

I felt extremely sore today after Saturday and working all day Sunday, so I did a good amount of foam roller work, then did some BW squats just to get the blood flowing and try to reduce soreness. Then, I did about 2-3 minutes of jump rope to loosen up a little more. After that came the Slosh pipe.

Started out with doing Zercher walks with it, walked 100 yards (down my backyard and back twice, 25 yards each way). After that, I did full contact twists I believe they are called with the slosh pipe, and holy hell that was a workout (got these from Finnegan's log). 2 sets of 20 reps (10 on each side) with these. Then, did 2 sets of 10 reps on the military press which was a killer on the top of my abs. Did 25 yard lunges with the slosh pipe on my back which was brutal.

Overall, it was a good work out and I'm pretty damn happy with the slosh pipe. The workout took me 30-40 minutes at the most and I feel really good. Took some Beta Alanine after this so I wouldn't be as sore and I'm not that sore at all right now.

The wider, classical grip also improves balance, especially in the full snatch. You may have troubble dropping into the full snatch with a clean grip. They are rough on the shoulders at first, but I have found that you do get used to them

I'm probably going to do them tomorrow, so I'll mess with both variations and see which one works best.

I got my Saint Wilhelm's shirt in the mail today. Tomorrow I think I'm going to submit a video wearing it, I'm thinking power cleans, but I might do DL, I'm not sure yet.

Yea, I remember Finnegan saying the same thing. My form isn't that good but whatever, it should be better than last time.

I just have to learn how to edit videos and add music and do all that stuff.

Got mine today too. I'm waiting to hit a big PR though. Especially since I don't have a vidcam.
Waiting for 315 bench or 495 DL.
