2006-04-22 -Standing fighting/ground-n-pound

-Warmup nothing fancy...

Went from Pads to sparring to ground n pound.

Ok session, feeling quite beat up, stiff and sore...

Tomorow my grandmother is 80 so no training then, just lots and lots of food, fine by me..;)

2006-04-28 1.5 hour standup striking

Had almost a week of rest. The last few months I have had lot of shit that has been bothering me, naging and fucking with me in the back of my head, with the rest of my life un-organised it has been limiting my training, my focus and drive, my sleeping and my eating. But im in the process of turning shit around right now, its time to kick some ass!!!

Back in training. Back to kick ass. Fucking great!


Today: Warmup - light conditioning - a few rounds of shadow boxing and shadow clinching+knees - greco-pummeling (hard pace-hard pummeling)

Then we had 2 pads stations - 1 sparring station (1 round boxing - 1 round thai) - 1 ground n pound station

Did 2, 3 minute rounds at each and then we rotated. Rested 1 minute between rounds.
Tried to have a high pace and really give it all.

I went hard at it today, but at one point in hiting the pads I felt like I almost would puke. At some points today I questioned at which level my conditioning is at. Definitively something I have to look into deeper, my style of bulldog fighting requires that I am a cardio machine, going forward 1-2-hook to body-legkick - repeat, and always trying to go forward, thats my style.... Im not a techician...;)
Otherwise it feelt good... Felt my game was -on- today... And it better fucking be when I only had been resting for 6 days!

Weird pic from todays warmup... Yep the dwarf in the sprawl shorts is moi...
And that is the ghetto training room that we use for standup fighting... Hard ass fucking floors and hard concrete pillars in the center... We call it "the mine"..... But shouldnt complain its -free-;)

Cool pictures, man. Whenever I try to take some of live sparring or padwork my camera-person never fails to snap 100 pictures of me with my guard up and 0 of either of us throwing a strike

I read this as often as I can, I think it's cool to see different training modalities for combative sports. The powerlifting/fight sports approach seems pretty popular around here, but this is one of the only logs I've read that is consistent and puts all of the S&Pers urgings for fighters into practice

Thanks man! Cool feedback And im definitively guilty of lurking around in your log to..

Well im just getting started with reintroducing strength training back into my routine, the ratio of ammount of skillsessions, strength-power training, external conditioning/energy system work and griptraining I will do is right now something im trying to find a balance for. Basicly I want -more-more-more of everything but then the question is how much can my body take...

But before I get my sleep and eating in check its hard to know what I really can take (right now living on coka cola and pizza, with like 5 hours of unregular sleep.. ) ....So hopefully in a few months I have found the training balance that turns me into an unstopaple figthing dwarf from hell...;)
