Do or do not. (GPP/BJJ)

Wax

Age: 29
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 82 kg
Strength level: Feeble (this is several steps below "puny" if you're reading Smashius)

Goals: Increased strength, BJJ and knowledge.
Routine: Basically a Squat/Push/Pull split with some BJJ and other stuff thrown in.
My grappling blog

Main Lift Maxes (up to date)
SQ 107.5
BP 77.5
DL 152.5

10/04/06 Pull
DL 25x6, 45x4, 70x2, 90x1,1 100x1,1 110x1,1 120x1,1 125x1
Rack Pulls (RP) 135x1,1 145x1,1 150x1
BOR 25x8 50x8,8,8
Sit ups (2nd rung from top) BWx10, 12.5x8,8,8
Workout rating: Not bad.

Usually use an olympic bar with bigger weights for my DLs so I was lifting from a lower starting point today which should be good for me. First time I've done rack pulls as I usually pull at another (highly metro) gym with no squat rack.

Evening
Grip work on CoC1 - I almost got this with my left hand tonight. I thought I had it but by the time I looked at it there was a tiny gap.

Will post my next workout on Weds if all goes well.

Nice to see you got yourself a log. Btw I now feel I no longer count as puny, I'm pretty sure I've made it to pathetic and with some work could make it to merely being weak by the end of the year.

I can only dream of being weak...

12/04/06 Push
Bench 30x8, 60x5,5,6
Push press 25x8, 40x5,5,5
IP 30x6, 40x6,6,5
French press 10x8, 20x6,6,6
Hise shrugs (on calf raise machine) 25x10, 35x10, 45x10
Planks 12.5kgx1minx1,1,1
Workout rating: Embarrassing

I have been trying to bench with tucked elbows and a slight arch for my last few sessions and my numbers have gone down.
My push press is as close to an overhead press as I can make it. I injured my shoulder a while ago and couldn't do OHPs for a while so I'm happy that my shoulder seems to be recovering.
Today's saving grace was the planks at the end. Whilst I hate planks I don't have to count reps so I can just swear to myself throughout.

I don't have time to go to the gym on Friday so it will be another evening workout at the jungle gym by my house (assuming it doesn't rain).

I will finish my entries with the page number of the book I am currently reading in order to inspire me to read more and not be so lazy...

We're 8 months ahead here in Japan. Don't they teach you anything at school? Love the log by the way!

14/04/06
Pull Ups 6,5,3
Chins 5,4,3
Military Pull ups 2,2,2,2
Belt hang 10 count, 5,0
Dips: 3, 0 (cheating) 6,6
"Wax" rolls 3rdx8, 2ndx8,8, 1stx6
Workout rating: Ghetto

A warm and windy spring day. Did this workout on the climbing frame by my apartment in my lunchbreak as I plan to have a "recovery workout" with my gf tonight (I'll spare you the graphic details).
I use my BJJ belt for the hangs. I loop it over the climbing frame and hold myself off the ground. Couldn't do it at all when I first tried it.
Had to cheat on the dips and touch my feet to the ground after the first set. I'm feeble.
"Wax" rolls are my own invention. Someone else probably came up with them before me but I thought of them myself. They're basically standing ab roll-outs BUT standing on stairs so your feet are lower to make them easier. SC, you're going for a full standing ab roll-out this year - give these a try and let me know what you think.

Might give them a go this afternoon after squats, I'm currently loving my bent arm standing ab wheel rollouts, they kick ass. Plus with them I'm thinking I can easily progress to a full standing rollout by changing the angle of my elbows.

15/04/06

Bought a beautiful new Japanese gripper today, 75kgs, directly in the middle of the CoC 1 and 2. Can't close it with either hand but it's a hell of a lot more doable than my CoC 2.

Practiced with it a couple of times whilst watching a DVD, moved down to the CoC 1 and closed it with my left almost without thinking. About f**king time too! I'm very happy with that!

According to my log my first CoC1 close with my right was on the 3rd Dec last year.

Pic of my new gripper here.
