Ok this sucks.

Last Wednesday, I was sick, but my mom said something like "Sometimes the pain isn't worth the gain" so I went to the gym.

Squat 250: Fail. Wasn't feeling it, perhaps due to sickness. I think I hit my first set, but my next sets fell apart...a lack of hip drive was a problem.

Press 115: Success. 117 next.

Power Clean 160 Success. Easy. Aggressiveness is all that's necessary.

--------

Well, it ends up that I HAD THE FLU...and I was sick for a weak. Lost 8 pounds, and was confined to throwing up in bed for a while. Now I just have the remnants of a cold, but fuck, I am weak.

WEDNESDAY (yesterday) Squat 185 5 / 5 / 5. The movement felt completely foreign. And it was hard. I could only rep 225 twice, so I decided to lower a good 40 pounds and work back up...

Bench 160 5 / 5 / 5. (+5) Down 15 pounds.

DL 275 for 5 (+10). Down 40 pounds.

2nd Workout after being sick.Bodyweight rang up at 170 today... - 10 pounds.

Squat 195 5/ 5 / 5 (+10). Pretty easy. As you'd hope, since it's 55 pounds lower than what I was squatting last week.

Press 105. 5 / 5 /5 Easy. Felt so weak, had to start low with this. +10 pounds next workout...

Power Clean 155 2 / 2 / 2 / 2 / 2. . I was feeling tired at the end of this, and my hands were an absolute mess. Next workout, I'll do it for triples.

I feel pretty gay posting. Notice the trend in my workouts since January.

Make progress, setback, recover, setback.

Based on the pattern, I'm destined to be crippled in a car accident in about 2 weeks.

Mon March 24: Squat 205. 5 / 5 / 5. Easy enough. (+10 next time)
Bench 165 5 / 5 /5. (+2 next) Tough. I've heard pressing exercises are quite closely linked to bodyweight, so it makes sense that losing 10 pounds would fuck my pressing rather thoroughly.

Deadlift 285 for 5. It was ok. I was feeling my stomach churn the last two or three reps, tasting the acid, which was interesting. It wasn't a particularly hard pull, but I taped myself and seem to be slightly kyphotic. I don't have trouble maintaining posture, but it's getting into a position of extension that troubles me. And I'm not talking about over-extension, either. (+10 next)

I understand your frustration. What is important is that you stay consistent and keep training hard. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the words amigo, I really appreciate it. I made the mistake, before, of abandoning programs when frustration set in and progress wained...the mental exercise of sticking with a program, in spite of continuous setbacks, may indeed be worth the physical setbacks.

Today. Squat 215 5 / 5 /5. (+5 next time).
Press 110 5 / 5/ 5 (+5 next time)

Didn't power clean because my quad was being a problem. I was experimenting with my anthropometry during the clean, and ended up with a very vertical back angle. I cleaned like this, and my quad did NOT like it at all. I iced it and hope it'll be fine by Friday.

On the bright side, my weight is back up to 175.

Time to start doing some GPP. Adding one day of GPP this Saturday. Then at the start of May I'll add another day, on Tuesday. End of May should mark my transition from strength to .mil work.

Squat 225 for 5 / 5 /5. All good.

Press 115 5 / 5 /5. Fine.

My quad felt tender so no power cleans. Did some pull-ups instead.

Squat 230 5 / 5/ /5. Felt pretty good. I think prior to my last two workouts, my stance has been a whee bit narrow. I feel more comfortable now. (235) next.

Bench 170 5 / 5 /5. Pretty tough, last rep or two may have been ugly, but all the proper depth. (172) next.

DL 302. This was pretty much shit. My quads were dead. (305) next.
