Tuesday

I got called Monday for a last minute overnight in Buffalo, so this morning I was in a hotel and just wanted to do a little cardio. I had hoped to go to Western New York MMA last night, but I had a guy with me, and didn't want to be rude and just take off on him. Besides, by the time we got done working, we were both pretty hungry and hadn't eaten lunch. I didn't think he'd be wanting to wait another 2 or 3 hours to eat. Anyway, I woke up a little early:

6:30am
Stick of Venison Jerky

9:30am
½ Southwestern Chicken Omelet
1 multigrain pancake
14oz glass of milk
Potaoes

1:30pm
Roast Beef and Swiss on Whole Wheat (tomato, lettuce, Miracle Whip)
½ cup of cottage cheese
½ apple
Raw carrots
5 grapes
½ cup of orzo salad
Couple slices of Cheddar Cheese
1 gel-cap Omega-3 Complex
3 caspules Glucosamine/MSM
1 Mega Man Sport Multi

4:50pm
Crunchy Peanut Butter & Honey on Whole Wheat
1 gel-cap Omega-3 Complex
3 caspules Glucosamine/MSM
1 Mega Man Sport Multi

03/15/06, Wednesday
6:00am
Deadlift
Warm-up 135lbsX10
230lbs 5/5/5/5/5

E-Z Bar Supinated Grip Bent Over Rows 105lbs 4X6

Deadlifts seemed very good to me. I think I'm really getting used to the movement, and form was pretty good, I think. 230lbs this week felt easy compared to 220lbs just a few weeks ago. I wonder what I could really pull up if it came down to it.

Heaping Scoop of EAS Protein Powder

8:30am

Judo:
We worked on 3 different throws last night, kata form, just to get used to the throws and taking the falls. We did the first 3 throws in Nage on Kata: uki-otoshi, seoi-nage, and kata-guruma. It went pretty well. Our head instructor is out of town due to a death in the family, so the other black belts have been teaching the class.

I like working with one BB in particular. He's been in several competitions, and apparently done very well. I've learned a lot from him, already. But, he's got a bit of a bad back, so he can only take so many falls. Understandable.

There's a competition coming up in May and I'm thinking about competing in it. At some point, they were talking about an extra class during the week, I think to work on just free sparring. Hopefully that'll start soon, because we really haven't worked that much, and I don't want to go in not knowing what the heck I'm doing! I think I'll be ok, though. I seem to be doing pretty well.

9:30pm
1 cup of Cottage Cheese
¾ cup of Orzo Salad w/ Roasted Vegetables
1 gel-cap Omega-3 Complex
2 capsules Glucosamine/MSM

Impressive log. I could really get some good ideas for meals.

How's the sleeping/cafeine intake going?

I wouldn't take meal ideas from me. I don't always eat the best, but the one thing I'm happy about is that I've managed to eliminate fast food from my diet, unless you consider Subway to be fast food. I travel a lot, so sometimes I have to grab'n'go when it comes to meals. I figured that a sub is better than a burger and fries.

The caffeine is a struggle for me. I love coffee, and like a Diet Pepsi every once in a while, but I was cutting down for a while. That is, until I discovered the so-called 'energy drinks." Diet Rockstar is the one of choice, but I've managed to avoid those for the past couple days, too.

Now, I'm taking an energy supplement that King Kabuki recommended, and it has caffeine in it, so I'm cutting out all of the caffeinated drinks. I guess I'll be switching to decaf coffee.

The sleep is crappy. I have a rough time sleeping through the night pretty much every night. That's why I quickly gave upon keeping that in the log. Oh well, maybe it's time to go for that physical that I've been putting off since I got out of the Army.

03/17/06, Friday
5:30am
PB&J sandwich
1 capsule SAN Tight

9:55am
Bowl of Zoe's Os w/ Whole Milk
1 gel-cap Omega-3 complex
2 capsules Glucosamine/MSM
1 Mega Man Sport Multi

I took the day off today. My son had the day off, and I've been getting home late from work every day for the last week. I think I might take the day off lifting, too, and dod squats tomorrow. My legs are killing me and my lower back a little too. I think it's a combination of Wednesday's deadlifts and last night's judo. I think it'll probably be better to have an extra day's rest between those two days, anyway: deadlift day and squat day.

12:35pm
Roast Beef and Swiss on Whole Grain (tomato, lettuce, Miracle Whip)
Bowl of Tomato Soup
1 gel-cap Omega-3 complex
2 capsules Glucosamine/MSM

4:30pm
1 cup of Cottage Cheese

6:25pm
3/4 of a large apple

7:10pm
Jump Rope 2 minute rounds X3
Side Jumps over Box 4 sets X 20 alternating reps
Burpees w/ pushups 3X10
SB Skiers 3X20 alternating reps

8:15pm
Fresh Farm Raised Salmon w/ Lemon/Garlic Sauce
Wild Rice
Fresh Sugar Snap Peas
24oz glass of skim milk
1 gel-cap Omega-3 complex
2 capsules Glucosamine/MSM

WOW! Fresh fish is so much better than the frozen stuff. It's going to be hard to go back to that prepackaged stuff you get in the freezer section!
